A Cook's Stove
on October 22, 2017
Posted by: Hilditch
I could only find one 30” gas cooktop that would allow me to cook with a 2 gallon cauldron (On leather pads), a 15” skillet, a 2 1/2 qt. sauce pan, a 12” stock pot and a 2 qt. saucepan all CENTERED on the burners at once. I didn’t even know I wanted a 5 burner, but even the 4’s don’t have this much room per burner. Was very pleased to find the angle of the flame, the extra height from the top of the burners to the bottom of the pan and open edged grate design allowed even the 15” skillet to heat evenly without a center hot spot or a cold edge. Yes, boiling water in a small pot is a bit slow, but a worthy trade off for even skillet heating.
Below the cooktop the use of both the upper and lower heating coils together is perfect for baking quick and yeast breads as well as pizza; especially biscuits, Italian bread and Neapolitan pizza.
This slide in is hard to beat for the serious cook. Did I mention it is half the price, or less than other high end names that are much less of a stove. The warming drawer is a winner too.
If you want your kitchen to look professional rather than institutional this is the way to go.
A pleasure to use,
Hilditch

Easy to use and keep clean. Beautiful. Well made.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Have owned the range for 9 months now. The heavy duty grates are easy to keep clean. The warming drawer is an added bonus that I wasn't looking for, but it sure makes meal prep a lot easier. I love the proofing mode for bread making, I get a perfect rise every time. The high power burner is awesome when a quick boil is needed. The middle burner makes using a long griddle a cinch to use. The oven door is quiet and the glass big enough to easily see what's inside. Overall, the range is sound, well made and I would recommend it to anyone that is a serious cook and baker.

Best range ever

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We purchased this almost 2 yrs ago and are so pleased with everything about it. The cooktop has 3 separate grates for easy cleaning. The touch screen is so easy to use. I love having gas on the cooktop and electric for the oven. With electric the oven cooks very evenly and having gas on top makes it very easy to control the temperature. The convection works great (not noisy) and cuts down the cooking time. I use the warming drawer a lot and it opens with just a soft touch. The stainless is great and easy to clean. I think it has a rich European look. The range slides in between the counters and looks very elegant. This is a 5 star range!

Great range - with limitations
on September 3, 2017

I have used this range for about a year, and agree with all the positive attributes as noted by other reviewers.
However, there are a small number of limitations that I think the engineers should improve in newer models:
1. Most important, the main cooking burners (middle and front two) have far too large a burner radii. This means that only the largest pots can actually use all the heat from the burners. For normal sized pots the flames lick up the sides, wasting a tremendous amount of energy. This also results in uneven heating of your pot: the edges are very hot and the center is too cool. To quickly boil a pot of water then means that one must use less than the full flame, and tweak the flame to help concentrate it on the bottom of the pot. Engineers should either make smaller diameter burners, or star shaped burners, or dual ring burners with a small hot inner burner.
2. The stainless steel top burns and discolors around the burners. This started happening almost after the first use and got progressively worse. It is very hard to remove the burns. Turns out that Bosch coats the stainless steel top with a clear coating (I'm guessing to make it less prone to picking up finger prints). But this coating can easily burn. After lots of careful scrubbing with a gel-type oven cleaner and a small stiff nylon brush, you can remove the burned rings . What actually happens is that as you remove the burn, you are also removing the clear coating. The good news is after you remove this coating, the burns no longer return.
3.The "convection bake" setting doesn't properly brown the top of baked items. A work-around is to use "convection bake" for the first half of cooking time, then use "convection roast" to finish the cooking.
4. Fast preheat button. When you preheat the oven, you must select this button to speed up the preheating. Who wants a slow preheat? Why not default to fast preheat, and remove the silly button altogether?
These are just one user's thoughts. But if Bosch prides themselves on engineering acumen and product performance it would be nice to see these changes implemented quickly.

Precision quality and features!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought this range several months ago and are very pleased at the quality and features. It is far superior to our KitchenAid range and oven that we replaced. The Bosch seems to have a much higher degree of quality. The styling is also very complementary to our contemporary house.

Meets and exceeds expectations!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We spent about a year researching ranges. We looked at other well-know high end brands, but kept coming back to the Bosch. We purchased the dual fuel slide-in 30" range about two weeks ago. I am so impressed with the performance. Every inch of the cook top is usable cooking space. The center burner works great for simmering a red sauce all day without burning the bottom of the pot. The multi-rack convection mode bakes cookies to perfection. The temperature probe took the guess work out of cooking a
perfect pork tenderloin. I can't wait to experiment with some of the other baking features...the warming drawer is icing on the cake!!! Looking forward to the holiday baking this year!

LOVE THIS RANGE!
on March 29, 2016

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We did an extensive remodel on our home and this is the range I chose. I chose it for it's dual fuel, 5 burners, extra large oven, it's looks, plus Bosch is a quality company. I have been using it for just a month and so far I am thrilled. I love the 5 burners, the heavy duty grate top, the large oven with the easy sliding racks, and the warming drawer on the bottom. Very easy to use and understand. The oven cooks very evenly. I was worried about keeping clean the stainless cook top surface but it is a breeze. Every thing has wiped up with just a wet dishcloth thus far and the surface still looks new. I also love the look of it. It is modern yet classic. It goes well in my decades old home where everything has been updated and yet still nods to the practical, hard working, timeless bones of it's 1955 roots.

Solid Range With A Few Flaws
on August 15, 2015

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] If you're moving up from an electric range, you'll need a while to get accommodated to cooking with gas. If your pan is too small, you'll find that the side get really hot while the middle of the pan stays pretty cool.
Would have been nice if there were central, as well as peripheral flames.
With the touch panel in this oven, you'll find that if your dish in the oven produces a lot of steam, the steam rolling out of the oven when you open the door will TURN OFF YOUR OVEN. That's a little annoying at times.
