After passing my Pixel XL down to my teenager, I felt the phone needed a little extra protection and the Defender Series case is great for him (I had the Commuter cover on it for me, which was perfect)

Bought this to protect my new XL and found the design to be weird. Case itself is what would expect in regards to protecting the device but the placement of the device in the holster is backwards. Rather then have the device face forward so it's in a natural position to take in and pull out you have to turn the device backwards to put in the holster. All other OtterBox cases I've had have been designed with the holes for the holster clip in the middle so that you can put the phone in the holster facing the right way regardless of the side of your body you wear it on. DON'T BUY THIS IF YOU ARE LEFT HANDED OR WEAR ON YOUR LEFT SIDE
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Due to the control buttons on the phone being in the middle we could not place the belt clip attachment points exactly in the center. This is probably my third or fourth Otter since I usually buy a new phone every two years. The ruugged design and built in screen cover are the main reasons I come back. Note to self, make sure there isn't any dust on the screen before snapping the rubber shell on

I purchased the XL version of this case with my Google pixel preorder. I am extremely happy with the case. It also comes with an integrated screen protector to ensure your phone and screen are 100% protected. If you are think about buying a case for your pixel, this is the case to get.

I like OtterBox cases (I bought more than five for my gadgets), but case for my Pixel XL push me to look around if anything else available.
I agree with Jay1, the case is not design to carry on the left side.
Suggestion for OtterBox, move the slot on the right side of the case UP see the picture

It's a good case for a few reason only.

This case will protect the phone but in my case I had to stop using the case because of how my car is setup. I use Android auto and the fact that I have to remove the flap to connect the USB cable to the car and also the area that's made to keep the phone in, the case makes it to big to fit in the capartment in my car, I drive a 2016 Honda Civic. That's why I stopped using the case but if you don't use those connected car features then the car will be fine if all you want is a case that will protect the phone from drops.

Not as good as other OtterBox cases

I bought this case a month ago directly from the website. I was glad they sold them before the preordered phones shipped. It arrived quickly and before my phone.
When I put the case on my phone I immediately noticed that the rubber was much harder than the cases for the iPad 3, iPhone 6, or Samsung Note 2. OtterBox also added ridges to the side, which I assume are for grip. Instead, the line of hard rubber next to the grip ridges digs into the soft part of your thumb. I've used it for a month and it's gotten betterish as it's worn down or my thumb has calloused.
The case doesn't fit well into the Daydream VR headset. So if you plan on ever using it in the day dream, also plan on taking it out of the case.
Overall, I would not recommend this case for the casual user or anyone that plans on using the Daydream.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
