I purchased this case to use as carry on for short 1-5 night trips. The case works excellent for this. The expandable main compartment would make this too wide as a carry on, but I had ample room for all my things without the expansion used.

The size might be an issue while travelling with low cost companies. If the weight is only on the front it will not stand. Although with a good design, very light and a good price/quality relation.
