I'm not sure how I'm the first person to mention that the furniture does not fit in the house! My daughter has to pull the furniture out and arrange and play with it on the floor because there's really no room to move a doll around in the rooms with furniture, especially the kitchen and nursery. There is absolutely no way to fit all of the living room or dining pieces or kitchen into those rooms, even if you block doorways - I didn't realize until after purchase that the pictures do not show ALL of the furniture. I have no complaints about the furniture or the house as stand alone items but they do not work together. Some of the furniture seems to be on too large a scale for the house. I think we'll try to find smaller furniture and replace the original, but I wish they had matched up better.

We bought this house for our daughter and its terrible. When we got the house the front panel was broke and they replaced it (fine). I finished putting it together there is a shingle missing off of a roof part, the seams don't line up, the screw holes aren't set deep enough in some spots so the screws don't tighten down all the way, the plugs to fill the screw holes don't match the color of the house nor do they set even with house since the screw holes were not drilled seep enough, the patches they give to cover the screw holes on the flooring and walls don't match with the cheap laminate laid out, and on some parts the laminate it peeling off. I worked in machining for many decades and this house should not have passed through quality control it should have been used for scrap material. Melissa and Doug have many good items but this is not one of them. Very disappointed buyer.

I am a dollhouse & miniature collector and wanted my granddaughters to have a dollhouse just for them. I settled on this one and bought all the furniture and assessories that goes with it. When I bought it 1 1/2 yrs. ago they were 1 and they loved it then and love it to this day. I removed some of the furnishings that were not safe for them at that time and left alot of the furniture which is still holding up very well. It is big enough for my 7 yr. old granddaughter too & she loves it. It seems to work for several age groups. I own over 30 dollhouses and couldn't have picked a better one for my girls.
Pros: Can Withstand Use, Cute Design, Easy To Assemble, Fun, Good Dimensions, Great Decor, Realistic Looking

This is just a gorgeous doll house. My daughter has been begging for it for months since she first saw it on display at one of our favorite stores. The price was a little out of our budget, but Grandma came to the rescue. Between Grandma and Mom & Dad she got the house and all of the rooms & accessory pieces for her birthday. Lucky girl!! My daughter is 9-years old though and will take very good care of it. She wants to be able to give it to her daughter and honestly, I think with a little TLC, this piece will last that long in true Melissa & Doug quality & fashion. It was a little spendy and took a while to assemble, but overall, we are all VERY pleased and it will provide my daughters (and son!) hours and hours of fun & creative play. Melissa & Doug have done it again.
Pros: Durable, Entertaining, Fun, Interactive
Cons: Assembly took two hours

I am far, far away from being a handyman so I was concerned about the 36 page instruction book but it turned out to be written for people like me and everything went well. It took a couple of hours but I wasn't rushing, either. There were a couple of screws that didn't line up with the holes on the roof but otherwise it was a perfect build. The finished product is impressively large and seems quite sturdy. I didn't put the finishing bits in the screw holes because I figure my daughter can do that if she thinks my granddaughter needs that... I am pleased with the house and will be interested to see it in a year after some use.

I bought this for my daughter for her 7th birthday. She had two dollhouses in her room, a fisherprice dollhouse and the dora castle. She played with them all the time and I thought she was getting too old for either and wanted to get her something a little more mature for her. My initial thought was to buy a kit and work on it together and have her decorate it. After I bought one and took out the instructions I realized that it entailed a great amount of time and energy than we could give it. I remembered that I saw the Melissa and Doug dollhouse at a boutique in town, after inspecting it, I realized it was actually better quality than the kits that come from a craft store and that it was all ready pre-decorated, no painting, no staining, wallpaper or flooring needed. It took me about 2hours to assemble it, this was with taking my time, drinking coffee and enjoying the time. I have never put anything like this together, all I needed was a drill, all the hardware was included and the holes lined up perfectly, very sturdy! The instruction booklet is 35 pages long, but it's basically 35 steps to completion, each page was a diagram of what needed to be done, very, very easy. I was so proud of myself and happy I didn't buy the one that was already assembled. My daughter was beyond ecstatic, when she saw this dollhouse. It is big, so she has a special corner of her room to put it in. The house matches her room decor..pink, pink, pink. She got furniture for her birthday as well from others, some Melissa and Doug furniture and some from a Craft store. The Melissa and Doug furniture is better made and more durable for play time and very stylish. If I want to be picky, I would complain about the size of the 3rd floor nursery, very small, but I am an adult woman who would complain about that, as a 7 year old girl with a big imagination I wouldn't even notice and would make it work. I remember playing with my dollhouses when I was little and they were alot smaller than this one and I never cared, it's called imaginative play. I am extremely happy with my purchase, beautifully crafted and great quality, I hope this is something she can pass on to her daughter.

When we Open the box the front dor is porely made... the sqares on the dor wasent lined up and a pice of the side was broken( splint from the top to the botton hangs together. it can brake so we have to buy glue to fix it). Not a toy for Children under 7 years of age due to ruff edges and fragile furniture that u can buy(Not included). Plus side is plenty of space to play with and nice that it has wallpapers and nice looking flores. Take 2h to asemble... eaven for a handy man becauce the pices dont have numers u have to count the screwholes at all pices.
