Gets the job done!

I've had this smoker for one season now (4 climate location) and it performs beautifully.
I've never had an issue coming up to temp or holding it. It was easy to put together and there are tons of after market parts that'll make your smoking experience more fluid.
However, right out the box this thing is built for backyard parties and hosting. I'm a beginner and this was a great cooker for me.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I bought this less than a month ago. Had difficulty assembling it because mounting surfaces were warped and holes were not correctly aligned. Did burn in and the seasoned it. Used it for the first time yesterday to smoke a brisket and a pork butt. Did not hold temperatures well at all, constantly adjust air flow to keep the temp even close. After about 2 hours I noticed that the paint was burning off the fire box, at 4 hours the interior paint started melting and was like a rubber. Also noticed several spots on the cook and smoke chambers where the welds were not completed. This is the second smoker I have purchased from them, unfortunately it was no where as good as the previous one.

At original price point good bang/buck, not now.

This is for the Longhorn reverse flow.
Pros: if you can obtain this for its original price point, its a great cost/performance. At the recent price point, not so much.
- Cover fits nice, not too lose, not too tight, easy to put on.
- Makes great food! (once you get a handle on fire management)
Cons:
-Immediate paint peel on the firebox, even with a small coal bed + 1 split of wood.
-Barrel was bent in on the left side (facing unit), was able to hammer out with rubber mallet
-lid or barrel is bent on the left side, leaving a good 3-5mm gap. Gasket on lid or barrel only makes the gap worse.
-must buy drip bucket separate.
Overall at the original price point, its a good bang for buck as it has quality issues. You don't need high temp silicone on the firebox, letting in more air isn't a bad thing. However the gasket on the lid area is a good idea (assuming its not bent like mine)
I'd cautiously recommend the unit, if you're unable to get a higher quality brand. It's a definitely "you get what you pay for" offset.

I Made a Mistake

Like many others, I did my homework and wanted to find the 'best-bang-for-the-buck' smoker to get into the hobby. Landed on the OKJ's Langhorn reverse flow. Dumped another $300 into mods, thinking it would help, and to some extent it did (sealing the firebox, getting an upgraded baffle and grates from a 3rd party company, installing additional temp gauges, etc.) because out of the box, this thing is pretty disappointing.
Long story short, this is an absolute bear to manage temps. The wood consumption required to get this thing to hold 250 in the cooking chamber was not something I was prepared for. Can you do it? Yes - but you need a ton of wood at exactly the right moisture content. It is NOT forgiving. Don't even consider trying to run this thing without dumping $$'s into the mods required to offset the poor quality. I feel like I messed up big-time and should have just spent the money upfront for a quality smoker. Lesson learned and hope this helps others who are contemplating the same decisions I was before I purchased this unit.

Poor Performer

I purchased this smoker with the hopes of being able to cook more meat at one time. We often have large gatherings and we like feeding our friends. Unfortunately what I have found with this smoker is that if I have my fire in the firebox it is almost impossible to get the main chamber up to temp. The only way I can even get close to 250 degrees is if I use a huge amount of fuel. I have tried charcoal and wood with the same result. I have already sealed both of the chambers also. I'm not sure if this is an engineering issue or what but it makes me feel that I wasted my money.

This grill is a joke. They just took another model and put in some interlocking sheet metal. relocated the smoke stack and called it reverse flow. This grill is not properly engineered. Impossible to get up to above 225. Melted the sealing gaskets I installed. Required 50 Lbs of wood and charcoal to cook a brisket and it was horrible because it won’t hold a consistent temp. I had to rebuild the fire every 30 minutes for 13 hours to keep the temp above 225. The worst part is now I have to pay to have someone haul this away!

Love my smoker. Only problem is getting parts for. Their web page won't let you lookup or find parts for. Trying unsuccessfully to obtain the plug that blocks off the unused smokestack hole. I got one they sent and it's somewhat smaller.
