Epson DS560

Nice, compact but powerful scanner. Set-up is easy on a Mac, connecting to wifi network was easy too. And if that doesn't work, there is the usb cable option. I have a small home office and so space is really limited but this is nice and compact. You can fold some of the parts when not in use to save more space. Scanning is clear, in color, and the image looks pretty good. Scanning is fast and smooth. It scans double-sided in one run so you don't have to flip the sheets.

Sold on Epson Scanners

I have previously owned many scanners other than Epson. I currently have 6 Epson scanners of various levels of capability to support photography from plate to film in full format and 35mm and document archiving. Up to and including requirements for oil immersion scanning of slides and film. The DS-560 was purchased to replace a WorkForce Pro GT-S50 which lost double sided capability due to the massive document load. The DS-560 has worked flawlessly. I have used it for all sizes of documents in single and batch feed. It has integrated well with all my software. If I have a scanning requirement Epson has the solution. There is little doubt that my next scanner will also be an Epson.

WiFi Issues

I purchased this product for my business to scan receipts, invoices, bills etc. for efficiency and save paper, and also to scan documents to be returned to my clients. I spend 3 frustrating hours trying to set up the WiFi following the instructions on the install disc. Each time the program disabled the router which in turn shut off all WiFi connections to other devices, Printers, internet etc. Which meant I had to reset all those devices after each attempt to install the scanner. I was never able to connect this to my computer via WiFi and had to use the hard wire USB connection in order to use this.
Once the USB was connected, the scanner works well and is fast. I also like the 2 sided scan capability, so you don't have to remove the document to scan the 2nd side.

Best darn little scanner

I'm a mobile notary by trade and every once in a while I get an order that requires fax/scan backs. We're talking about 150+ documents scanned. Well, prior to my purchasing the Epson DS-560 I was scanning on a LexMark All-in-one. 150+ documents would take 2.5 hours at the minimum because I could only scan about 12-15 pages at a time -> save (OCR process) -> restart. Every 2-3 scan batches and the scanner would crash. If I was in the middle of a scan or had not saved yet I would have to start that batch over... YES, it was a pain!
Today, I got a faxback request so I whipped out my new scanner (still in the box -I just purchased it 9/2/15), set it up on my MAC for wireless use (10 minutes max) and started scanning. I was done in 15 minutes. FIFTEEN MINUTES, people! Images were sharp and saved as PDF. My docs are a mixture of letter and legal size and it did the job WITHOUT ANY HICCUPS. I loved how I can pick the scan settings easily and didn't have to dig through manuals to figure things out. I seriously wanted to cry with joy.
Thank you Epson for making a kick butt scanner that saved me from having to work late tonight.

Great scanner but very kludgy software. If they improve the software, this would be a great product. Not that intuitive to scan, instructions do not match what is on screen.
