BEST WATER BOTTLE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I recently purchased a Matterhorn water bottle. I have been skeptical of any of the bottles on the market about their claims that they keep water ice cold for such extended periods of time. Then I ran across the Matterhorn in the clearance section of a local retail store. I bought it, brought it home filled with ice and water, sealed it and left it on my kitchen counter for 24 hours. I opened it twice during that period to check on it. I was STUNNED at how ice cold the water was and the fact that there was still ice in the bottle. I LOVE THIS BOTTLE!!!!!!! It is the most amazing bottle I have ever purchased.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What am I missing about unscrewing the lid?

Can someone please let me know how I am supposed to unscrew the lid so that the part you can drink comfortably from is exposed? I see that there is a part you can drink comfortably from and a part you can refill the bottle more easily from. When I first got the product out of the box, there was an informational insert in the bottle. I tried and tried to get it out of the bottle and could not. Then I gave it to my kid who figured out you can open it a different way to expose the wider mouth. But now, every time we open the bottle, it seems a total crapshoot whether the wide mouth or drinking spout is uncovered, and when you drink from the wide mouth part it is very easy to spill and dribble :/ I strongly suggest not putting papers in the new bottles but in the box it comes in. Or if you must put papers in, please print instructions on the different ways to open the lid on the box that it comes in. Thank you very much. My review would have been much higher if I had been able to figure out how to remove that little paper myself.

Poorly Designed Lid

It keeps my water cold. That is the great part. The two lids? Bad idea. Screw the top one on tightly? Then the white spout comes out with it. Try to separate the two parts? The lid is attached to the bottle so putting any torque is tricky. I do not want to drink directly from the wide portion because the stainless edges are thin and sharp. Also, the lid hits me in the face when I drink from it so you have to "think" before drinking or hold onto the lid whilst drinking.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Impossible to clean lid seal

I like the size and shape of this bottle and it keeps water cold for a long time. I've had the issue with the two tops but that doesn't bother me too much. The real problem with this bottle is that the rubber ring up inside the lid that comes in contact with the white piece is impossible to clean without removing it by prying it out with a small sharp object. This rubber seal collects bacteria since its contacting the part where you place your mouth. If you don't pull the ring out and wash all sides of it thoroughly it starts to smell like mildew after some time. I washed my bottle every day and didn't realize this ring up in the lid wasn't getting clean and after a few months it started to smell bad. Awful. Nasty. It took me a while to figure out where the smell was coming from. I soaked everything in sanitizing solution but it didn't help. Then I realized this ring was up in there and pryed it out and found the source of the problem. Poor design. Very difficult to clean. Prying the ring out over and over again will result in it breaking.
Giving 2 starts because the lid gets gross smelling.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I now have two Contigo products and love them both! The Matterhorn keeps my water cold and the Byron keeps my coffee hot forever...what more could you ask? I have ordered additional models for my bridge playing friends. You have a solid product...keep it up!

My go to bottle

I love this bottle. I've only used it as a water bottle but it keeps it ice cold for at least 9 hours(the water was still cold after leaving it in for about a day). Never tried pouring hot drinks inside of it so I can't say the same results apply(but I'm positive it would).
Overall, I highly recommended this for keeping your drinks cool.

I love how cold this keeps my water. I was really excited about getting rid of the spout, but every time I unscrew the cap, the white part to drink out of unscrews too. Makes it kind of a pain.

If you're adding ice in the bottle by unscrewing the white part and it still comes off when unscrewing the cap, you have to screw the white piece back in until the black rubber is no longer showing. might have to use a bit of force. This will stop the white part from coming up every time after but needs to be done each time its's taken out!
