The Gear S3 Frontier is a great watch for any smart watch enthusiast. The overall design and functionality of the watch is amazing. It delivers a classy look while being tough for your next adventure. The watch is a perfect companion to a Samsung phone (note 5 user) and really takes over basic function without pulling out your phone. A big improvement over the gear S2 is adding a speaker to the watch since I use the speaker while driving since my car doesn't have blue tooth. Answering calls are great because of the bezel or you can either swipe to answer or reject the call. The texting feature is great and it gives you three options to send text, but I enjoy having the option to use drawing the text because its fast and easy. Using the bezel to navigate through the widgets or notifications is responsive and reliable. The watch alone as a watch is great and you can customize the different watch faces by using the stock faces or downloading the different ones on the gear store. The fitness app S health is great for tracking steps, heart rate and other heath stuff if you set it up. Overall I'm really happy to have this watch and glad it comes with useful features that make my everyday routine easy. Upgraded from a gear 2 (not gear S2) I'm glad that this watch meets my needs.

Cons: not enough apps

The Best Smartwatch to date…

The Gear S3 is easy to set up and comes with several great apps to get started which include stopwatch, timer, alarm, altimeter, barometer, calculator, reminders, News Briefing and Samsung Pay.
Pros:
• Nice, large, easy to read screen. Way more masculine than the Gear S2.
• Always on Display makes the watch look real and it will have little effect on battery life
• Speakerphone for accepting calls. The calls sound great...just a little odd looking if speaking into the watch.
• 1000’s of watch faces to choose from in the app store.
• Rotating bezel. The bezel is the best way to see notifications and go through widgets. The bezel also minimizes the need to swipe which in turn reduces fingerprints on screen.
• Easy to respond to text messages using voice.
• Samsung pay. Load up your credit card info and you can shop and several stores without the need for you credit card.
• Step counter works great.
• Easy to swap out watch bands. In addition, there are so many watch bands to choose from which makes the watch so versatile.
• Transferring media files (music or photos) is super easy.
• Battery life is 2 days with heavy use which will be perfect for a weekend getaway…no charger needed.
• Easy to use magnetic charger.
Cons:
• Not many apps available accept watch faces. Yes, there is Yelp, Uber, Trulia, CNN etc but there could be so many more.
• S Voice. This app is on all Samsung phones and suffers from lag to get info and is often not accurate when converting voice to text.
• Heart rate monitor is not that accurate during workouts.
• Sleep monitor is somewhat useless.
• The onboard keyboard is a pain to use for responding to emails or text messages.
I have had every Samsung smartwatch…yes everyone (Galaxy Gear, Galaxy Gear 2, Gear Live, Gear S, Gear S2 and Gear S3). To be honest, I have tried several smartwatches and all of them have their shortcomings however, the Gear S3 is the best smartwatch to date and I would highly recommend to anyone.
Pros:

First let me say that I am not even a watch person. But this watch is amazing! I love this watch. it does everything I need it to. What makes it even better is it made by Samsung. I know if anything goes wrong Samsung has my back. almost all of my electronics are made by Samsung. That should tell you how reliable the products are. I love this watch! Wish the price a bit less, but again love this watch.

Great Looking and Designed Watch that suffers from a lack of Apps

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Gear S3 Frontier is a standout in it's design and aesthetics. From the moment I took the watch out of the packaging I was blown away by it's solid feel and look. The watch itself is sturdy and has a decent amount of weight to it. As a 6ft tall guy it fits well on my wrist and does not feel to heavy when being worn. The moment you turn the watch on you realize how amazing the screen is. It's very bright clear and easily readable. Over the first day I found myself looking for excuses to look at it and use it.
The built in apps are nice and there are some additional ones to be added but unfortunately, this watch leaves a lot to be desired on the integrated app front. I went with the frontier option because it was advertised as the active version. Considering that it has a surprising lack of active apps. Other than S-Health there are no integrations with your most common running, biking or hiking apps (even ones that where supported by the S2). There also appear to be apps in the advertisements that don't exist (the one where the biker is getting turn by turn directions on a trail).
Overall I would recommend the watch to someone, but suggest they go in with eyes open. There may be a bevy of apps integrated in the future but at the moment the pickings are slim, which is really sad for a device that I really love to wear.

Cons: Did not meet expectations, poor app integration

Nice Watch for the price

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Gear S3 is a nice watch. It's my first time wearing a smart watch so it was a bit of a learning curve, learning about the bezel, the various buttons, and the multiple apps that came with the watch. I am a bit fit and currently doing couch to 10K (I am a bit ambitious lol) so the watch has helped me to keep track of my steps and how active am I during the week. I like the samsung health app, since it has a tracker to go along with my progress. Although there are some apps I would like sync'd to my watch like other fitness apps, etc. The watch has the basic necessities, so I am content.
I like how the watch looks and how you can change the watch face to your own preference. I stick to the pre-made display faces since I am not on the creative side of technology. My friends have noticed and displayed interest in the watch. It does come a bit loose when I am running so I would need to tighten it down to the third from last notch. At that point, it's a bit constricting on my wrist.
The watch syncs my messages and displays notifications from different apps like if I have a message from FB, my emails, and text messages. It is useful especially if I am at a meeting and I don't want to disrupt the meeting by taking out my phone. I also like how I can text from my watch, when I don't feel like taking out my phone.
The staying constantly connected to my phone would obviously drain its batteries. If that happens just put the watch on airplane or blocking mode. This way, the BT connection doesn't drain the phone's battery.
Watch didn't break yet, despite running all over the place and hitting it into the edge of my desk or kitchen counter. So, I guess the watch face is pretty durable. Watch strap is nice and will probably change it later on if it gets old or loses its luster.
Battery life is okay. Can last about 2.5 days without charging and with constant use. I haven't tried sleeping with my watch to record how I sleep. Just feels weird wearing a watch to sleep and having it constantly on your person.
First opening, it was heavier than I anticipated. It was surprising, but I got used to it fairly quickly.
Overall/TL;DR: Nice watch, could use more software apps, would recommend.

Great looking smartwatch

I have tried various smartwatches, and fitness bands, but this is the one that has best user interface among all others. Thanks to its clicky wheel around the watch. This also is the best looking smartwatch in my opinion. Best feature is the Samsung Pay; no doubt. It works not only the contactless credit card terminal, but also at the regular mag stripe payment terminals. Only downside at this point is the limited number of useful apps in the store.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] What can I say about this watch? It does everything you need from a watch, Answer calls, text messages check! Check the news, track your sleep, check the weather? it does it all.
Don't like your watch face? change it up. with many apps out there you can download lots and lots of different faces....even ones that are "designer" (rolex etc)
My favorite thing by far though is being able to pay with Samsung Pay. As a S6 and S7 user it was a great feature. BUT to be able to leave my phone at home and use my watch the pay, its the JACKPOT! and yes you read that right....even on the Bluetooth version...you can check out with Samsung pay up to 5 times without your phone near by. Pair it back up and you get 5 more transactions!
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color, Durable, Built-in speakers, samsung pay, looks like an actual watch, great battery life
Cons: they need to make a female version for my wife!
