Best watch I've had, ever
on August 4, 2024

I bought this watch YEARS ago as a used watch from a coworker. I can say the longevity is the most admirable part. Ive got it wet, lost it, etc and its still in near perfect condition with minor scratches, no dents, nothin. The watch itself will absolutely outlive several straps, no doubt if this thing ever broke I would back to but another at full price.

Even for 2024, the Gear S3 Frontier is a good buy

the Gear S3 Frontier edition is an exceptionally well styled watch, even for 2024/2025. The only downside to this watch now is the lack of Google Play Store/App availability. But for messages/phone calls/basic health tracking, this is a no-brainer. The physical bezel is always a plus in my book as well.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Your don't realize you need it until you get it.

I am an engineering student, and am reluctant to spend hundreds of dollars on things; so at first I had some regret on the purchase. I never wore a watch before this and thought I wasn't going to actually get enough use out of it. But after about 6 months with the watch, I think it has been one of the best purchases I made. Being an engineering student I am on technology a lot, and the watch supplements my daily needs so well. Having everything from the time and date, to email notifications on my wrist have proven invaluable. My biggest use is having my google calendar right there. I have a busy schedule and cant remember it all so I keep a very detailed agenda there. Just by spinning the dial I can see when and where I need to go next. I have outlook email notifications set-up, so when I get an email I can check it quickly to see if it is important or not. Same thing with text messages; I will have my phone in my pocket, get a text, and can view the text from the watch and even respond if needed. With calls, I can view who is calling and reject/silence it from my phone. If it is worth answering I can answer it and speak through the watch if i need to. The watch is also very durable. I accidentally hit it on a door frame or desk at least a few times a week. Every time I do that, I have a mini heart attack hoping I don't break it. After all of that, the screen is still impeccable. The only signs of wear are on the bezel due to how much I have hit it, but even then it is minimal. Samsung Pay works great, and it is nice that it works through both NFC and Magnetic. I have gone to retailers and bring up my watch to pay and they stop me and say "Sorry we don't have pay here." It is always satisfying when I prove them wrong by putting it up to the magnetic reader and paying. Overall, for me the watch helps in many small ways, that when added up make it a huge tool for my everyday life.
I bought my S3 to help track my activities after noticing that the basic Samsung Health on my Note didn’t register when I work be working on projects not requiring a lot of steps. Now I have a more accurate record of my daily level of activity. I have yet to fully utilize many of the available functions of my S3. I guess that is the problem with having a phone and watch smarter than I am.
Pros: Bright display

Cool Watch and more

I worked in manufacturing all my adult life and wearing watches or jewelry was out of the question and with the invention of phones that also had the time on them I felt I didn't have the need of a watch. I'm currently retired but driving a school bus in the mornings only. The bus isn't equipped with a clock. I purchased a couple different cheep stick on the dash clocks. They don't keep good time and you can't see them in the dark. This watch time is always correct plus so much more. Samsung Pay, e-mail and text message visibility without pulling out the phone. and so much more that I haven't figured out just yet. I don't make or receive many phone calls and the couple that I have made or taken I can't remember to use the phone to see how that function works. I've used Samsung Pay several times and it works great. With the otter box case on my smart phone I could never get the Samsung Pay to work so I never used it until I got the watch. I've only had the watch for about 2 to 3 weeks. I like it. The one thing I didn't like was the cheap plastic watch band. I switched it out within a few days. I do mean cheap plastic watch band. It was aggravating to try and put on each morning. Plus it was hot and caused me to sweat where I wore it. It's fall now so it's not blistering hot out and this band was hot. I would recommend Samsung improve the watch with a better band.

First smart watch

Let's start off with the one I have is the tmobile one (Frontier) This is the first smart watch I've ever owned and I have absolutely fallen in love with this watch! I have owned and still have some really nice watches big heavy thick built like tanks type of watches (Invicta ones ) .. The Frontier is not as heavy and not as thick over all, but the quality is top notch. The band is of pretty decent quality it's a soft rubber and is fairly comfortable. I kinda wish it had a leather or full Metal band but that's just my preference and in no way takes away from the watch in any way.. the 22mm quick release band does what it's supposed to do and is very easily replaceable and if you shop around online you will find plenty to keep you happy in every color and texture. The watch it's self is very easy to use and navigate around in , it's pretty easy to just start turning the bezel or touch the screen and just look around to find what you're looking for, not overly complicated. Watch faces, apps, fonts ,security ect... There are a few things that I'm still trying to figure out, such as removing the music I put on there.. still looking on how to do that... which brings me to the other thing that I wish for on this over all almost perfect watch.. the storage and memory both I just wish were a bit bigger.. just a bit more ram would have been nice... and the biggest on the wish list is way more than just 4gigs ... with the built-in apps they take a big chunk of space.. not sure if possible but 8 would have been really good and 16 gig would have put this at near perfect level for me.. I understand that the wish list would have put this at a higher price point but I think in my opinion it may have been worth it. The set up was easy and painless.. receiving messages and phone calls again were on point.. the sound quality was perfect from both ends. The placing of called and writing text was on point to also.. but fyi.. the writing on the small screen I found to be more of a hassle so I just spoke out the message I needed to send. Just so much more I can say about the s3 Frontier which would be almost all good and maybe 1 or 2 things bad , but the good definitely outweighs the bad , so much so that even with the very few things I found that I just wish were a bit better or just more ,this is an outstanding, well balance and good looking watch that is a flat out must buy for yourself or that special person in your life. Also if you have never owned or thought of a smart watch there is not a better place to start. So far I almost find myself using it as much or more than my phone. Especially if you are in a job or place that pulling out your phone is not convenient or possible. Being able to read or answer your calls or text messages discreetly is pretty nice also not having to worry about having my phone or forgetting it the car or my home and still being able to have those that need to get in touch .. well get in touch.. is really really convenient. For those that have this watch ....enjoy it.. for those on the fence just get it!!
I bought this awhile ago and it has been serving me well. It keeps me motivated by tracking and reminding me of my daily exercise, walks and overall physical activity. I answer my calls and read my messages and alerts from the watch. The battery life lasted me a while day with a not overly animated watch face. It teaches my sleep patterns and with the new update automatically detects the workout type! I won't leave home without it on my wrist!
