Awesome watch

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I truly love this watch. Would put it up against most of the more expensive watches. Particularly like the many different watch faces, email capabilities and especially like the tracking of steps.
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color, Durable, Inexpensive, Lightweight

Best Gear Smartwatch to date!!

I've owned just about every smartwatch from Android Wear to pebble and the Gear S3 ticks all the boxes I look for in a smartwatch. Size, battery life, replaceable bands, screen resolution, functionality. The only drawback I have with this device is app support. I fly a lot and I find myself going to my android wear device since I can get my boarding pass right on my watch, I can't do that with the S3. Hopefully that's coming. Other than than that this watch is a major go!!
Pros: Bright display, Durable, Built-in speakers
Cons: minimal app support

Better than the Gear 2 but lacking apps

Tien still doesn't have enough apps and some of the 3rd party apps they do have aren't well supported by the developers.
Pros: Bright display, Durable, Lightweight, Built-in speakers
Cons: not enough apps., wake wrist gesture doesn't work at times.

Better than Apple watch

Great device. I've used an Apple watch for over a year, but the Gear S3 is much better. More info available at your fingertip. Great tech design. Great features. Good price point when compared to Apple watch with similar features (which there isn't).

I had gone thru many smart watches and the S3 frontier is the most versatile of them all. The only down side I see is that the fitness monitor feature doesn't live up to my expectations. What I mean is that the Frontier only monitors half of the activity types via heart rate and the rest are not. Even the automatic workout detection (walking, running, dynamic) don't monitor the heart rate. I have tried to do a comparison with another fitness watch and the calorie count is lower on the frontier when I am doing workouts that the frontier don't monitor the heart rate, but when it does the heart rate is almost the same with each other. The other downside is the Voice control aspect just outright fail
Beside the fitness aspect of the watch and voice control feature, phone calls comes in real crisp. The apps available are great, like spotify. I can run without my phone, just have my watch and Bluetooth head phones to be able to listen to music while running. It looks good especially, with the different bands available.

Cons: activity monitor

Almost worth the high price

Though a bit pricey, it has been a good buy. If it was Skype compatible it would be worth the price, but it does not have a camera (which is why I did buy it; I cannot have a cell with a camera at work).
Being able to forward your cell phone, or using it as a stand alone is great, and one of the reasons I bought it.
Down side is some features not easy to figure out, like deleting files (music for instance). Setting multiple alarms: so far it seems limited to 1 only. Not being able to remove shortcuts to builtin features you don't need/use. Pulling sleeve back on coat sometimes turns bezel dial causing incoming calls to be accepted/rejected before you can see who is calling.

Had a Samsung Gear S2 which was fine. This new Gear S3 is lightyears better. It's much easier to see/read, the bezel is quick/accurate. Did get the Frontier S3 LTE - and yes, it is large, but have a small wrist and it's definitely not a problem. Have really liked the Sleep Monitoring feature via SHealth. Still getting used to its features, etc. Do wish that the watch faces could be tried out first before paying for them. Some are quite good and some others have more work to do to make them totally functional and effective (worth the cost). Another huge plus is having a decent sized battery in the watch that lasts 2-3 days (depending on the usage). Using Samsung Pay with the watch is particularly useful. Don't need my wallet and don't need my phone....the watch is there, ready, and capable. Overall...a fantastic watch.
Pros: Bright display, Durable, samsung pay, battery life
Cons: too few applications yet
