Luxury middle market iron

The sunbeam iron had some interesting qualities. First, the color blue was instantly noticeable and was made out of a sturdy plastic that seemed to hold up well. I also enjoyed the color more over time. For features, the light would flicker red if the iron was hot, a nice aspect that keeps you from guessing or worse, hand testing! The steam aspect and ironing worked consistently well. The temperature dial also worked as expected. Overall, this was a great iron for middle market consumers who want everything to work without unnecessary bells and whistles. ***I was an unpaid product tester for this product that received the product as compensation.

I'm a quilter and really wanted an iron dedicated for clothing so I could keep my quilting iron dry. We use the steam feature for clothing but never for quilting. So I bought three irons from Sunbeam. This one was to be our dedicated steam iron. It has been a wonderful iron. It doesn't leak, steams beautifully and easily handles all the wrinkles we throw at it. My previous steam iron was a high end, high cost iron and it leaked like a sieve. I bought two before giving up on the brand. I had no idea such a great iron was waiting for me in this price point! Thanks so much, Sunbeam!

Good enough iron

I've tried this iron out a few times now. I have to say, I really like the retractable cord. That's probably the best thing about it. Right out of the box I noticed some little water droplets inside the water reservoir. I don't know if they're tested before leaving the factory but I thought that was strange. Using the iron is easy. I like the indicator light to let you know it's hot enough. For the most part the iron worked ok. I used some wrinkle release spray with it and found it more effective than using the iron alone. All in all its a good iron. I'd like to mention that I received this product to test out and review.

Not worth it!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I absolutely loved this iron when I saw it in the store but after about 1 week of using it, it stopped heating all together!! I don't quite understand how something so expensive gives out so soon. I am highly disappointed and would prefer never to buy this brand iron again! 
Don't waste your money! Looks can be deceiving!!

Very Good Product!

I really like this iron. It heats up quickly and does an excellent job eliminating wrinkles. I've used it mainly to iron shirts and never had a problem. The vertical shot of steam feature is nice and allows hanging clothes to be steamed without taking them off the hanger. This is a great product. I would recommend it to all.

Couldn't be worse No stars if that was possible

The only good thing about this iron is when it fails they ship another. But... How can you iron in the interim. On iron number two in less than six months, this came yesterday, worked great this morning, this evening (only second time off the shelf it heats but won't steam.

I apologize for the trouble you've experienced with your iron. Based on what you've described, I have some troubleshooting tips which may help you.

In order for an iron to steam, the tank must be at least 1/4 full of water, and the iron must be on the steam setting and at an appropriate temperature for steaming.

If you've checked these things, and the iron still doesn't steam, do the following:

1. Hold the iron horizontally or in ironing position.
2. Swish the water vigorously back and forth.
3. Pour the water out. You can repeat this process up to 4 times if needed.
4. Plug the iron in - let heat for 2 minutes. It should then steam.
5. If it is not steaming, rap the tip of the iron against the edge of the ironing board (because the water molecules may be bonded together). When you rap the tip of the iron against the board it should break the bond. This works 95% of the time.
6. Be sure to use tap water. Distilled water does not provide steam as well as regular tap water.

Sunbeam retractable cable steam iron

I bought this iron 7 months ago and the retractable cable would not retract. I contacted their customer service - they are very Good in customer service,. Their reply promptly and sent me another iron. Which was very helpful.
Their customer support is Great unlike many I've dealt with !! keep it Up !!
