This product is economical.

when my central heat & air when out & I realized I could not afford to replace it at that time, I purchased two LG air conditioners. They do the job and are very economical to use. My monthly electric bill actually went down. I am very satisfied with both appliances. Thank you LG!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My first LG 8,000btu unit was in for 10 years and still works. I bought a new one for our bedroom and the old one now keeps my shed cool and dry

Quiet, compact, and well designed

This unit is quiet, seems to work well for its rated capacity and the remote control makes it convenient to turn on and off or adjust for temperature setting.
I live in Colorado, where the low humidity makes the summer temperatures bearable. But this past summer, days on end of highs in the 90's to 100+ were making our house uncomfortable, even with our ceiling fans. I installed this unit in a dining room window, and in spite of other rooms open to the main dining/living room, it made a significant difference in comfort.

I agree with those reviews pointing out and elaborating on the features of this model and the great price.
But I must point out an initial problem which I encountered. An intense chemical-type odor which I appeared to be allergic to. I could not use the unit in my bedroom because of these allergy symptoms. Running the unit for 2 days with it open to outside air, at fan speed 3, with the compressor cycled off and on removed this odor.
This odor was picked up by the owner's manual which still retains it.

Very quiet and cools very well. Mounting system is dated compared to features. Temp "up" button on unit not working, but remote does the job...not worth carrying it back to the store for that defect. Clean design and white color a big improvement over old one it replaced. Good directions and ALL hardware included for normal mount, but does not seal 100% around bottom of window frame, so that keeps it from my top rating. When an AC unit even comes with a remote, one would think the sliding vinyl accordion panels to the sides could be a better design by now.

While keeping cool, what I enjoy must about my LG Air Conditioner is the energy saver feature. Everyone is trying to save a buck and I'm right there with them. But besides that the LG Air Conditioner keeps 2X the amount of space cool than what it is recommended for with the added help of 2 of my stand up rotating fans. I can't afford a central air conditioner which is what my home is equipped for, so I make do with what I can afford. Satisfied in Austin,TX Heat

This air conditioner works well. House was almost 90 degrees, cooled it down to a comfortable level in no time.

Overall good product, but fan motor too noisy

Overall I like this machine, but I am disappointed with the noise that comes from the fan motor. I exchanged the one I have after three weeks because of it, but this one is almost as loud. I believe the fan motor is not isolated well enough from the frame or else the motors are just not quiet. I have had many window units and never had one that you could hear the fan motor in the house. Normally there is some compressor noise but not fan except for air movement sound. I did a lot of reading of feedback on this unit and the competition and they all have people that feel the way I do. The energy saver works, but because the fan is loud, it can disturb your sleep when it comes on to test the temperature. I appears he units in this BTU rating are made the same but most of the features are same across the brands and made in Chine, probably in the same plant with the same design. The noise is a low frequency rumbling sound.
