GE continues to sell defective Gas Cook Top Knobs. To date I have purchased 20. GE turned down my first review. I hope this one is OK

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this cooktop for kitchen remodel. Looks really good. Love the rounded corners. The grates sit up a little high, which is nice. They are light and easy to take off to clean the sealed cooktop. I do not cook for a large family or gourmet meals; but this cooktop has fulfilled all my 'every day' cooking expectations. This unit replaced a GE gas cooktop I had had since 1996, which I had never had any problems with, but it did not look good with the updated kitchen.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Avoid if possible

This cooktop came with my house after it was built. The knobs break, and in less than a year, all the numbers around the knobs faded or wiped off completely. Pay the extra for a better quality cooktop.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

30" gas cooktop

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Nice looking cooktop. Works well. My only frown of a complaint is that the cooktop is not perfectly level all the way around. I tried to pull it down flush to the countertop with the fastening strap, but there is still a gap from the uneven edge on the left side. I even used a straight edge to make sure that it was the cooktop and not the counter that was uneven. I guess I will have to caulk.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We needed to replace our old (16 years) GE cooktop and chose this one. We had it for 6 months now and are very pleased. For the price, it's a terrific value and we've had no problems with it. Ease of clean-up is one of its best features!
A word of caution on installing a new cooktop in a counter top's cut-out area for a much older model cooktop (ours was 16 years) ----> The new models' length (left to right) is the same as on older models, but the width (bottom to top) on the newer models is almost an inch shorter. So, we wound up with about a three-quarter inch gap in the cut-out area of our counter top, causing an appearance problem. We solved that by installing a thin wood strip, painted with glossy black paint and clear polyurethane, on the counter top, along the top length of the new cooktop. Works like a charm and looks great.
