Nice looking but big problems with door

I bought this fridge about 2 months ago because it was an attractive replacement for my old white one, and also because Amana has a good name. I liked the idea of having the freezer on the bottom so that the more frequently used food items would be conveniently located on top.
I quickly experienced two problems with the door: first, it swings open very heavily, crashing onto the adjoining tile counter. I have to carefully hold the door when I open it, unlike other fridges I've owned. When I forget to do this, it opens with such force that an opened can of Coke inside knocks over and spills its contents. Also, I had a decorative ceramic plate setting in a wooden plate-holder on top of the fridge; the other day when I absent-mindedly let the door swing open, the plate was knocked to the floor, and it shattered into many pieces. The second problem I've had with the door is that sometimes - but not always - it seals shut tightly, so that to open it, I have to pull the handle really hard - or even use two hands. This happens about one-third of the times, and I can't figure out the cause.
Obviously I need to get a repair person out here, but I've been busy and gone from my home in the daytime. This problem is now #1 on my list!

I waited too long!!!

My old refrigerator worked well, but I kept having problems with the door handle. After a year of makeshift door repairs, I finally decided to shop for a new fridge.
Due to my home setup, I can not use an automatic ice maker, but wanted a bottom drawer freezer. Lo and behold, I found the exact type, My stainless bottom freezer with NO automatic ice maker!

Love the ease of obtaining food at a glance no more digging around. Everything is at your fingertips. Freezer is great for stacking packages flat and finding them fast easy to wipe clean. Have had many compliments on refrig and would recommend it to anyone.

Love our Amana refrigerator! The freezer on the bottom is wonderful, freezer is great size and allows you to pull open and see what is in it. Having refrigerator on top makes such a difference, actually seeing eye level helps noticing items much easier.

I bought my fridge a couple of months ago. I really like, but it has a slight popping sound when it comes on, only lasts a couple of seconds. Also the crisper (veg draws) do not fit correctly. Neither of these are real bothersome, but should be corrected. I would recommend this item. I really like the fridge on top.

I bought my new refrigerator in about 6 weeks age and I love it. I love the bottom freezer and the extra space I feel I have. I really like that I am not standing on my tippy toes trying to find something in the back of the freezer. I am really glad that I chose my Amana refrigerator!!

I bought this fridge last winter replacing my older Amana fridge. I am very pleased with the pull out drawer, it holds alot of items that are easy to see and reach. The shelves in the cooling part are easy to move and easy to clean, and it is a great energy saver, which is important.
I would recommend this to a friend!
