I give this a four as most of my issues were my issue, due to poor directions. So bad, i was ready to return, if it wasn't for a patient customer service. lesson 1, watch out for the passwords and write down where you set them. one password is 5 letters, one password is 6 numbers, one password is a combination of letters and numbers, and the DVR password must also be recorded in your phone under the device. Can get confusing!! Lesson 2, On top of that, no directions, just a wiring diagram which is color coded and hard to screw up, so be ready to print out a book from on line directions. To me , installing was easy as i was a electrician (retired), Lesson 3, 60 ft cables don't go as far as you think but 3 ft HDMI and 3 ft Ethernet cables are useless so plan on buying those unless you place the DVR on top of your router. I'm new so i can quarantee customer service and i will be well acquanted. So far, they have been the best, patient and knowledgeable.

Exceptional product

Have completed installation of the Defender HD 1080P 4 Ch security camera system. I found it to be very easy to set up and has outstanding video cameras. The packaging is above average. I had only one main concern and that was the length of the camera wires. The specifications do not give the length I had some concern that I would be short. The actual length of the wiring supplied is about 70 feet which was adequate for my set up. I also think the instructions regarding the initial setup with password should be a little bit clearer. I found I could not change the default user name and after multiple tries to enter "password" with numbers and characters finally comprehended that one can only use "digits" not characters. That's relatively minor complaint. Overall a great product and I will recommend to friends and relatives.

Set up was easy using the on-screen guide and mobile app. Just hold your phone up to the code square on the setup screen and, bingo, the app does the rest. I was viewing from my phone in minutes.

This was my first camera system purchase ,after reading a lot of reviews, I felt Defender had the best reviews,I purchased the 4 bullet 4 dome camera system,ran all the wires myself . After everything was hooked up I powered on dvr and was up and running in about 10 minutes , app also connected with ease. I like that I can check on my home while I'm at work or away for the day.

The installation of the cameras and set up of the DVR were extremely easy. The app for my phone is great! When ordering Customer Service was very helpful.

I purchased the HD1T8B8 (8 Camera System) the day after Thanksgiving 2016 and the system was here in about 4-5 days.The first thing I did was to make sure the Camera's and DVR were working and they were spot on.The camera's are plastic and light weight but appear to be built good. It finally got warm enough a couple of days in Dec. and Jan. to start installing it. The picture quality is extremely great both day and night vision and the install was very easy with only a couple of Hiccups. The sales staff is very pleasant to deal with and repeats everything about your order before they hangup. Had a question and emailed it to Defender one afternoon and they called the next morning so I'll give the tech dept a 10. If you plan on purchasing a system I don't think you could go wrong with this system for the $$$$$$. I would suggest to you that you pre- plan where it will be installed since you only get 60ft., however you can purchase 100ft lengths at a very good price. In closing I just want to let you know that I'm not affiliated in any way with defender just a retired cop who's house got burglarized and the dirt bags took all of my wife's jewelry after 41 yrs of marriage and all of my guns oh got to mention all the whiskey

Good system, difficult internet/computer set up.

Had 2 friends with this system and both love it...so I had some help. Set up is not hard but I have some positioning issues with my house set-up. Getting the program to work smoothly on my computer is still a pain a the app works well on smart phone but have to go through several steps each time on computer/internet.
I would recommend this to a friend!
