Exceeded Expectations

We have had our next installed for about a month now and replaced a programable thermostat with it. We have loved the learning feature, auto-away, and the ease of adjusting the temperature. We have already seen a drop in our home heating costs.

My Nest Is Best With Nest

We were looking for a thermostat that we could control with our smart phone and did some research on the different thermostats that would achieve our objective. Every search we made lead us back to the Nest thermostat. A rebate from our natural gas supplier was the final hook which made us purchase the Nest thermostat. I was very comfortable with the installation because the instructions were definitely user friendly and online support was also very helpful. Yeah, I screwed it up by trying to out think the installation instructions, but the online help straitened me out quickly and installation was completed within 30 minutes. We received out first home report, (installed Jan 2018 )and we are interested in seeing trends in our heat usage. Lastly our 3yr. old Grandson loves to see the display turn on when we walk by so we get to check out our Nest quite often when he's around. His 1yr. old sister is also starting to get caught up in the excitement.

This is a great product, the phone app works well. My only hesitation about this product is that it tends to incorporate changes to temp into the schedule quickly. For me this has meant that some temporary heat increases (because I was home working, and wanted it warmer than usual), have become part of the schedule, only noticed by me because I happened to check my Nest app while away on a following day, and had to reset the schedule so that the temp would not go up each day at that time. In this way, the Nest has actually resulted in more heat use since installation. I like that I CAN turn my heat down while away, in case I forget, but I don't like that it has turned itself up without my knowledge on several occasions.

Replaced my 1960s thermostat with nest and it works perfectly, really like the ease of us, and it makes ouur house look modern

Seems to do exactly as advertised. Changes the temperature at night and just before I get up. The only thing I haven't really confirmed is that it is changing the thermostat when all of us (our phones) are away from the house.

Nest was easy to install and easy to use. After a couple weeks I noticed it had learned when and how much to adjust heating. App is easy to use, and convenient.

Pretty neat thermostat!

So, we are in a two story house we are renting and the Nest was installed right before we moved in. I had no problem connecting WiFi to it and setting it up. I let it do its learning and after a couple of weeks I figured out that it was still a little bit off what I prefer, but I think it was more catered to the home owner's settings still. I went in to the schedule and set it up like I wanted and so far so good. It has been pretty cold here and my only issue is that this house is a two story with only one HVAC unit instead of two. The nest would work a lot better if there were dual HVACs because it is always 3 or more degrees warmer upstairs than downstairs where the thermostat is located. I have to adjust for that in my settings by making sure the heat turns off at a certain point or my upstairs ends up getting super hot while the downstairs is still a pretty cool 74. If this was a one story the Nest would be much easier to set schedule wise, but I have figured it out for the most part. It is pretty easy to set it up and change the temperature. The app is great too. I love being able to adjust the temp from upstairs if I wake up and it's a little too warm or cold. Our weather has been all over the place so I like being able to adjust it as necessary. The app is easy to use. It did take me a moment to figure out how to set the schedule in the app though.
