LOVE IT!!

I initially had no interest in getting this thermostat but my parents had it for a few years and insisted I would love it! They ended up getting me one for Christmas and I absolutely LOVE it! I no longer have to worry when I’m at work or gone for the day that I forgot to turn the heat down again! When I’m heading home from work I turn it up with my phone so it’s nice and warm when I get home. I love this is all on an app I can control from my phone! Also when I wake up in the morning it’s awesome I can turn up the heat while I’m still in bed! It’s a fantastic product and I’m glad they talked me into it! Can’t wait to try it this summer with the AC!

Best investment so far

I was so tired of all the old thermostats that had confusing directions on how to just set the temperature. It did not help when the company would print the directions on the thermostats themselves, in a font that was so small, I needed to take a picture of it, then zoom in just to read it.
I am so glad with the new NEST thermostat, and the app that let's me control it from anywhere. I already have ordered 3 smoke detectors and have plans to get the security system.

Looks and Works Great

I was given this thermostat as a gift because I am a geek for new technology and I have wanting to save energy and have my home look more high-tech for a while now. Upon receiving the Nest Learning Thermostat, I was excited to open the box and get the unit up and running. From when I opened the box to when I had the unit running was only about an hour. It was easy to figure out how to do everything and Nest's instructions were very helpful. I would highly recommend this to anyone.

NEST is Easy

Nest is so easy to use - completely intuitive - in fact it's more complicated if someone actually tries to explain how to use it to you. Brightly lit, bold font - just a couple buttons, mostly with one word.
You don't even have to read the easy quick start guide to start using it.
ECO mode (yes, stands for economy or ecology) shows a green leaf and means your thermostat is saving you money by running the furnace or AC at a lesser temperature.
You walk past it and it lights up with the current temperature. Change the temp by turning the dial!
You can change the temp from wherever, from your smart phone - think of it, next to your bed, you don't even have to get up to change the temp!
Kids turning up or down the thermostat when you're not home - bring up the app and you can see what it's been set to and change it to where you want!
The smart phone app looks just like the NEST and works the same way.

The Nest just works as advertised.

I've had a dual fuel heating system since 1989. Replaced the original units in 2007 and have had a fair amount of trouble with the thermostats that control the system. The thermostats have to deal with when to use the heat pump and when to switch to the gas furnace. I replaced the original 1989 thermostat at least four times in 18 years. Always quit controlling the switchover to the furnace properly. Problems continued with the new units, but the thermostat just lost some of its functions, but eventually would work.
So far with the nest everything just works the way it should. Easy set up. No problem with the dual fuel or the switchover from heat pump to gas furnace. It uses the heat pump until it detects outside temps of below 35 degrees, then switches over to the gas furnace. I couldn't be happier. That it works with my Google Home so I can just tell it to raise or lower the temperature is a plus. The phone app that lets me control the Nest from anywhere is another plus. So far I have not used the phone app to automatically lower the temp when I leave the house, because my grandson lives with me and usually stays home.
I am extremely happy with the Nest so far and am looking forward to it continuing to work well for years to come.

In just a few more months my heating/cooling savings will pay for the Nest.

Pretty awesome

Plug and play. Sleek design. It's pretty awesome. Got it for a Christmas pr sent and had to set it up that night. Took 15 minutes with tools that came in the package. I was so excited to wake up and see the thermostat the next day. Easily programmed it to allow my Google home to adjust it. Sitting on the couch and want to turn up the temp? Just ask Google to do it. It is also fun to play pranks on the wife and turn the temperature to 60 in the dead of winter. She didn't think it was funny.
