Bought the Nest thermostat in order to remotely monitor and adjust a vacation home and so far it has worked easily and really helped with energy usage.
I would recommend this to a friend!

This was the best most easy installation ever I'm not savvy in that area period but they have a way of just making it work and have it set out perfectly anything you can think of like here wheres a level its built in the mounting bracket 100 * review

technical issues adding to existing account

Unable to add 3rd gen thermostat to existing 2nd gen account. Was on phone for an hour with Customer Support and was still not able to correct the problem. They recommended creating 2 home accounts one for each device(thermostat) - not a good solution since I wanted to add vacation and rental homes and Google limits customers to 3 home/locations
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Nest thermostats communicate with each other through a thread network. If you are getting error codes, there’s something that must have been missed during the pairing. You can try this troubleshooting steps to fix the issue:
- Reset the Nest Learning Thermostat and try the pairing again.
- Identify if the Nest Learning Thermostat is looking for an assisting device. If yes, make sure the assisting device is powered on.
- Check for the error codes if the pairing fails.

Nest Learning Thermostat

I was dubious whether I needed such a high tech device just to control the temperature. After all, I have been using a Honeywell thermostat for 20 years and it's worked flawlessly. There was a learning curve setting up the Nest, but the printed directions and app directions were easy to follow. I did find the plethora of wiring connections daunting at first. It is, however, an exciting product.

Is it weird I love a thermostat!?

I was a long time user of a NEST 2nd Gen, and it worked very well and saved us a ton of money. BUT due to an electrical issue, the unit died and I ... temporarily ... went back to my old Honeywell programmable. WHAT A PAIN! My bills went up and I REALLY missed the convenience features of the NEST. The new 3rd Gen is ROCKING and I can't wait to use the home / away feature with my phone!
