Why so loud?

Hood fan is much, much too loud. Sounds like a train coming through the kitchen.

It's okay

It's bigger than the original hood by about 2". The light because it is positioned at the front of the hood causes the back burner not to be well lit. The fan is not what I initially ordered. I wanted a 4 speed fan and this model only has 2 speeds and they are loud. I wanted the four speed because I was told it would be quieter but after it was ordered found out that model was discontinued.

Poor quality control

The first unit was damaged in shipping. The second unit was missing the grease filters The third unit, which I installed was missing several screws that fasten the blower housing to the metal housing. I fixed this with some odd screws I had on hand. Then when I went to mount the charcoal filter there were no mounting screws or even hole for screws. So, again I supplied my own screws and drilled holes in the plastic blower housing. This whole project was a disaster, GE Mexico has some serious quality control issues. I would not recommend this product. Severely over priced for the head aches you get. It does look nice now that it is installed. I think I will hold on to the old Kenmore unit for a while, I don’t get a secure feeling with this.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Unit shakes horrible when Fan on Hi

Very disappointed with this purchase. I went with the more expensive model thinking it would perform perfectly. Not true. I can never put the fan on hi because the motor is overpowered for the unit. When I place it on high the entire unit shakes horribly and makes such loud noise. Low is tolerable but not good.
