Defective from the start

I was given this speaker as a work anniversary gift, & I was excited waiting for it to arrive. The setup was easy & fast. Unfortunately that's where the positives end. I connected the optical cable to my Samsung TV, updated the sound setting, & started a video. A horrendous sound came from the speaker! The issue happened with every video I tried, & power cycling didn't fix it. Bluetooth never connected despite trying numerous times. I was able to get a song to play with an aux cable, but the speakers distorted the sound on the mid-range. There's a very shallow audio profile. Short version is I would not recommend this speaker for anyone, & I will be contacting my employer to return it & recommend they not offer it as a work anniversary option.
