Not durable

I am searching for a new range and having problems finding reviews from people who have actually owned their range for more than a month or so. So, I thought I would write a review of the one I'm replacing, in case it will be helpful to someone. We liked this range quite a bit for about a year. I was very disappointed that the cooktop clouded or bubbled or something almost immediately (first week), and in 3 1/2 years I've never been able to get it cleaned off. It is a sleek, attractive model, and unfortunately having a stained, marred cooktop really spoils that effect. I understand that ceramic cooktops require extra work to keep them looking their best; however, I've followed all of Whirlpool's instructions, both cooking and cleaning, and I still have a very stained stove. The rapid boil never worked. That wasn't a deal-killer for us.For 13 months, we were generally happy with how it cooked, and liked the features. Then came Thanksgiving 2013, when I was preparing dinner for 10. Suddenly the oven spontaneously roared up to nearly 500 degrees and incinerated the baking food I had just checked. The control board gave us an error message (which I'm sorry, I can't remember after 28 months). The range was inoperable until we turned it off at the breaker. It appeared to reset and be okay until yes, suddenly it would again roar up to very high temps and burn the food. It continued to do this for about a week until we finally gave up and left it off. I began to look around online to find out what to do, and turned up the info that we were not unique. Unfortunately the answer usually was to replace the control board, which would then usually repeat the problem after just a few months. Before we did anything, after a month or so, my husband tried using the oven again and...surprise... it worked just fine. It has continued to work fine for two years, until 2:00 a.m. the night before Thanksgiving 2015, when once again the heat soared up and incinerated the pie I had JUST checked and determined needed 3-4 more minutes. We did the breaker thing again for a couple of days and finally it stopped heating past 190. Six months later that's still the best it will do.This range was not the most high-end on the market, and I didn't expect it to last forever, but I did expect it to last more than 37 months. I chose Whirlpool Gold because we have always had excellent results with previous Whirlpool products. My previous range was a 25-year-old Whirlpool Gold which was finally starting to lose power in the oven element. This range was not just a disappointment, but its failure came at a spectacularly bad time. We were in the middle of an unexpected kitchen renovation. The one thing I did not expect to have to replace was my 3-year-old range, which still feels reasonably new.Unfortunately I am now wary about buying another Whirlpool product. I probably regret that as much as Whirlpool.

Does not last

This stove does not last. I purchased it because I trusted the brand. The oven went from not heating properly to suddenly extremely hot and burning the food. We had brownies that was burn black on top from the heat but was still not done on the inside. This was after 3 mins in the oven. It has been a little over 3 years. We were not expecting to buy a new stove so soon. Horrible job Whirlpool.

Very Sad

I bought this range 2 weeks ago and I'm getting ready for my second service call. First the right front eye did not work. Now the oven light won't work, stays on all the time. It's made with a cheap rod that moves when the door closes. This is a very poor design, so sad to see this kind of workmanship.

Slow cooker

I bought this 6 weeks ago to replace a conventional electric stove. I really thought I was getting what I wanted with the new features, however I am extremely unhappy. The stove top is terribly slow getting up to temperature and even slower when an attempt is made to reduce temp. The oven is also slow to heat and everything I bake has to remain in the oven longer than recommended by the instructions. My previous model was superior in all aspects of cooking. Label me as "unhappy!"

Love this range

I would have liked to give this range a five star but the rapid pre-heat is not too much different than regular warm up time. And the black glass top is very hard to keep shiny. But I do love this stove. It cooks fast and good, has loads of wonderful features and the oven size is really big. Would I buy one again yes. I am looking at the refridgerators too. Whirlpool rules!

Great features and wonderfully designed; looks as if it should belong in an art museum. Many of my friends have come over to see the new stove and convection oven and are in owe over its beauty. Nice addition to my kitchen appliances; features as auto cleaning, convection and self-adjusting thermostat turn and average cook into a chef!

Amazing new color to update our white appliance kitchen!

We are very happy with the new look it has given to our 18 year old kitchen.Love how they incorporated the speckled and plain black stove top. It is very easy to maintain and keep clean. And we love the ease of the oven control panel. We hope to replace the rest of the appliances to match in the near future.
