The kit was given by a friend to me and everything was out of date except for the no rinse so I have an extra. Ordered the Lager and just tried one the other day. Waited 15 days after bottle time. Got approval from my wife ( big deal for sure). May leave another day or two then chill more and check it out. Yum.

This was my first Mr Beer kit, but there have been many since. My first time, I read the instructions on the back of the label, and therefore did not use the booster at all. The kit came with the booster, but I had no idea what to do with it. LOL.
Anyway, the first time came out good enough that it gave me confidence to try more extracts and also this refill again. Of course, the first time, it did not have the alcohol content but it was good beer. The color was more orange than the golden color shown.
The second time I tried this, I did the two packets of booster. I wanted to know how much different it was. Flavor was not much different, but much more "mouthful" is the term used. Without the booster, you can guzzle these down pretty quickly. It was still good beer, and still more of an orange color.
The third time was using the deluxe refill, which comes with the LME. I was not a fan of the result. Since it was so long between my second and third time, I can't really pinpoint what flavor changed, but have to say that this refill is best with the booster, not the LME.
I do want to try this one more time now that I have a fermentation chamber and can do a real lager yeast.

I first started brewing beer5 years ago. I quit for awhile because all of my beers had a yeasty after taste. I wanted to get back into it, but wanted to know how to get rid of that after taste. I spoke to 2 different brewers at Mr Beer and both told me to significantly reduce the fermintation time, and to "cold crash" the beer before bottling. Ive done on several different beers now and my problems are fixed. Also there was no residue collected on the bottom of the bottles. THANKS Mr Beer!!!
