It Just Works!

This thing just works. It shipped quickly, and after a charge, I put it to test. Not being confident of it's ability to stay in the gutter, or return to me safely, I tied a string on my looj, so I could save him in case he took a suicidal plunge out of the gutter, 30 ft. to the ground. It turned out to have been for nothing, as this thing slowly drove down the gutter in automatic Clean mode, reversing periodically as it progressed down the gutter. It passed the gutter straps without a hitch. When it reached a point 3 feet from the end, (a point of a huge plugged section), it plugged away until it was gone. This was done with wet leaves from rain the previous day. This review is based on one use. But my assessment of one use, and examination of the product quality, this will be a tool I will use a couple of time per year. It will pay for itself the first year in my case as I was paying $150 per gutter cleaning. Looj is my new favorite robot!
Pros: Convenience, Cost effective, It works, Safety

I was skeptical at first, but wife thought it would be good idea,so I ordered the looj 330.well it was on backorder.order stated 3-4 weeks before ship.was I ever surpirsed when it showed up on my doorstep 3 DAYS! later.awesome service guys.Tested it out next day.when I climbed up to put looj in gutter I found my gutters completely clogged with ash tree seeds and leaves to the top.I thought "no way this will work"but i tried it,now understand, this was way beyond a normal cleanout job,but the looj did it!with routine use this thing will do an awesome job.next day cleaned another area with just leaves and much drier, went through like butter.finally something that does what it says.thanks guys

Cons: Can't get spare brushes. Have to buy accessories

Does the job

In fairness to the Looj, my gutters were full to the brim with wet leaves and I couldn't be bothered to go back and forth with the remote to let the Looj try to tackle the job. So we tossed over the bulk of the wet mess and sent the Looj in to do backup duty, which it did a great job on. I am eager to try sending the Looj up again to see how it will do with a reasonable amount of leaves. Overall I was impressed with the battery life and speed with which it flew through the gutters (the pre-cleaned gutters). It still threw over water, leaves and pine needles.
Pros: Easy Cleanup, Fast, Good battery life
Cons: Wet Leaves

After using it about a dozen times it lost it's torque. Any small amout of resistance the brush would stop spinning. Fully charged made no difference. Bottom line, it's great when it works. But would not buy another one for the limited amount of life i got out of it.
Pros: Easy To Use
Cons: Would flip over very easily.

Hi Drumdude, we are really sorry to hear about the situation. This is definitely not the experience we want our iRobot family to have, and we'd love the opportunity to turn it around. Is it okay if you provide us with iRobot email in order to resolve the issue?

Good, not great

Bought this last week and was very excited to get it as I have 3 very large oak trees one on each side and on the back of my house. I had 6" K-style gutters put on 4 months ago and this was the first time cleaning them. The Looj did pretty good overall and saved me from having to climb a ladder 100x but some large drawbacks: When it hits a bunch of muck, it has a tendency to flip. Since it is on tracks, not that big of a deal right? Wrong. If it flips, forwards is backwards and vice versa. In auto clean mode, that means it starts going backwards through the areas behind it that are already clean. You have to manually send it back into the muck to try to get it to flip again. Which means you are watching it the whole time and/or manually controlling it most of the time. It needs a tip over sensor. Had a track come off 4x. It can still limp along missing a track but you have to take a ladder to that spot and get the track to put it back on. Not sure how to fix this one. When it thinks it is stuck, it turns off the ability of the remote to do anything which means you have to climb a ladder to go rescue it. I'd rather it just warn me and let me decide to figure out how to get it. I faked it out a couple of times and pulled the remote batteries so I could turn off the auger or switch directions and it would come free no problem. No spare battery - can't even buy one. My house is ~175ft of gutters and I had to charge it 4x. I really want a spare battery so I can swap them out without having to wait for the only battery to recharge. "Whiskers" are not replaceable without replacing the whole auger attachment. The blades are fine but the whiskers are bent back and are even getting caught with junk when it wraps around the auger. Handle is useless when the Looj is dirty and has junk under the attachment point. Need to rethink the small sliding area as when junk gets in there, you can't slide the handle in to attach it. In short, it saved me from having to climb the ladder 100x but honestly probably took 3x longer to do the job, and I did have to reposition and climb the ladder 8-9x to fix a problem(track came off, Looj autoshut when it was stuck, etc). I think this is a great device, has lots of promise, needs to address the above issues which I think are easily fixed, give it a little more power to clean up muck that's built up and it would be a clear winner. I'll continue to use my Looj 330, just more frequently so there's no build up that causes most of the issues above, and hope iRobot can include fixes to some of the issues above and I'll buy the next model.

This is a "TOYL" - a FUN tool!

Best gift in a long time. I have 188 feet of gutter and the first use took about 1 hour. My gutters were packed to the top with tree leaves, maple, tiny locust, five inch long pine needles, muck and water. They were a mess. It was a job but the LOOJ worked at it and did just fine. Because of the heavy load we had a few attempts at turning over but the remote control helped preventing that from happening. One thing I did notice is that it traveled faster in reverse than forward. So a couple of weeks later when I convinced myself that I needed to use this toy(I mean tool) again, my gutters were not nearly as bad so I ran it upside down and in reverse(which became forward). I did my 188 feet in 15 minutes. All this was accomplished on one charge of the battery. Not bad! Not bad! Oh, and I would like to have a remote controlled siren so I would have something to do while the LOOJ is working away!! You bet I would recommend it!
Pros: A real time saver, Great Results, No more sore knees
Cons: No Siren
