I am SO pleased!

My old stacking unit finally died after more than 20 years. I was worried that a new unit would not be as reliable or sturdy, but I love the new one. I was sold on the grey color.....really attractive, and I am very happy with the quality and features.

I hate this combo!

I have owned this machine for just under a year. Clothes never get clean, and they never get dry on the first run. I'm so tired of having to rewash and re-dry things. Any efficiency is wasted by the fact that it takes at least two loads to get things clean. This is true whether it's a small, medium, or large load. The only good thing is the design and the load capacity is high, but it doesn't really matter if the clothes aren't getting clean.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

KatieMc, thank you for sharing your laundry center experience with us. I regret to hear about your washing and drying challenges. California has very hard water that can contribute to washing complications, especially if using a granular detergent. If you use a granular detergent, try increasing the water temperature using the hottest water safe for the fabric. Try using liquid detergent, or use a non-precipitating water conditioner with powder detergent. Remember to add items one at a time, each bunched into its own “ball” to allow beneficial item interaction. Avoid loading items in a flat, laid-out fashion (different from the way I learned to load a washing machine!). There are many factors that can impact drying: Occasionally a waxy build-up may form on the lint filter, and/or the moisture sensing bars from using dryer fabric softener sheets. To remove this build-up, wash both with warm, soapy water, rinse, dry thoroughly, and replace (the lint filter). Do not operate the dryer without the lint filter in place. The outside exhaust hood or the exhaust ducting may be clogged, restricted, or has collapsed. The exhaust duct must be at least 4 inches in diameter and made of rigid or semi-rigid metal. If your Dryer is connected to a 208 volt circuit rather than the 240 volt circuit needed, drying times will be 20% longer. looks great, quiet

pros: the gun metal grey color looks awesome, washer is nice and quiet. seems to use less water than most washers, which is very important here in California. long spin cycle, which means less time in dryer(smaller gas bill).
cons: wash cycle seems to take forever, and there is no timer to let you know how much longer. the plastic buttons seem flimsy.
the dryer died within the one year warranty, Fridgidaire sent a repairman to fix it with no hassle.

Much better than the Laundromat!

Let me start with saying that this was the very first washer/dryer that I have owned. However, having said that I am very happy with this unit. I have tried the quick cycle and various other wash cycles, and although I thought that I would like the quick cycle the best, but the other cycles do leave the items cleaner and more dry when the cycle ends. I have only used the gas dryer on high as I just wanted to get the items dry.

I bought this unit in Sept. 2016 and have had nothing but problems. First the clothes didn't spin dry enough to put them in the dryer and there is no "setting" to just spin them some more so you can put them in the dryer. What I had to do is use the "rinse and spin" cycle which means me using water again before it will spin. The dryer does not always dry the clothes enough to take them out and put them away. I have had service on it about 4 times already and they keep replacing parts and it doesn't resolve any of the problems. At this point I can use the washer and not yet the dryer, waiting for more parts again. The settings on the machine should include a spin only cycle, this would be nice to have if you wash a few items by hand and want to spin the water out in order to put them in the dryer. It would also be nice to be able to see on the dials where the machine is in the cycles so you tell if the clothes are almost done in the washing cycle. I had a case recently when I had an overflow in the bathroom and used large towels to clean it up. When I put the wet towels in the washer to clean them it wouldn't cycle to wash them because they were already wet. I took them to a neighbors house in order to wash them. I wish I had never bought this washer/dryer combo.
