Change in design ruined this bag.

This bag was fantastic before the design was changed. Use to have two in one bag. The original design made it easy to use as a carry-on. It had removable front pocket and was great for any kind of travel. But now not too useful. Change is not always good.
Very sad,
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello, thank you for your review, we appreciate the feedback.
This is my second identical backpack. The first lasted 9 years of every day use, haling it back and forth to work and travel.. Eventually a wheel was failing, the handle would not collapse, and it had several tears in the fabric that neve got bigger. It had an awesome, durable life. I was extremely happy to see it was still for sale with no changes or "updates" to the design. I highly recommend this laptop bag.
I'm a Pool Nurse. I travel to 8 different hospitals, which means I need to take all my stuff with me because I don't have a locker I can leave it in like nurses who work exclusively on one unit of one hospital. I needed a bag bigger than the traditional school bag. I appreciate having a lot of pockets, although I'm unsure what to use the ones on the sides for with the L shaped zipper—I kind of wish those were actually soft, elasticized "cups" to hold plastic or metal water bottles. I would actually make better use of that "space" on the bag if there had been water bottle holder there.
It's great in every way but my older version allowed be to open the main compartment completely... This one does not

Long lasting and very durable

I have the earlier version of this backpack and it has lasted me nearly twelve years of international travel carrying the maximum it would hold. Very sturdy design and the zips and material are as good as when they were new. The only thing that has recently failed has been the rubber on the wheels deteriorated and fell off. Very good after twelve years of heavy usage. Now looking to replace it with this XBT model for another twelve years of heavy graft. Hence the reason to be on this page.

Sturdy, Quiet, Reliable

I bought this 2 months ago because I had used the earlier version of this wheeled backpack for 6 years and it had been invaluable. I had to replace the earlier version because the telescoping handle stopped reliably extending and retracting, but I think this was because I was carrying it by its telescoping handle and it had still lasted a long time under heavy use. The new version has a separate, heavily reinforced handle for carrying the wheeled backpack when navigating stairs or other awkward spaces, which really helps and should protect the telescoping handle. This wheeled backpack is, literally, my mobile office when traveling between 5 different schools. The wheels are whisper quiet and my work laptop is well protected. So far, this new version is even better than the last one and I'm confident that it will last well for at least another 6 years.

I purchase this for my 7th grader, he was carrying a very heavy backpack on his shoulders, now he has the option of rolling it, as well as carrying it when using the stairs at school, it's about the same as the version without the wheels he has before... Good purchase so far! Just make sure when rolling that the straps are not on the floor butt in the pouch that brings, they will go under the wheels and wear (learnt it the hard way)
Pros: Easy To Access Items, Good Capacity, High Quality
Bought this for my wife as a gift to help her carry all her work/advanced degree books, supplies and laptop. Overall it seems to work, but could use a little more use-case design changes. First, although it fits a 17" laptop, it doesn't really have a designated spot that protects it a little more from the pressure of other books and getting jostled around. I wish it at least had a padded slot for the computer. Second, the straps have to be enclosed in the zipped cover to roll it. I understand why, as they will catch in the wheels when rolling, but if you have to travel through different "terrain" such as indoor and outdoor stairs, in and out of the house etc, it takes time to switch from backpack to rolling pack and vice versa. It's kind of a pain. Otherwise, she's committed to trying to get used to it, as it does allow her to transport more or all of what she needs each day.
