After three weeks of enjoyment it is time to write this recommendation. The XBR55X900F was bought as a replacement to a 42” Panasonic plasma monitor. Clarity, color and angle viewing have exceeded all expectations.
Factory settlings on standard picture mode with the light sensor set to optimized throughout the day this new Sony monitor placed within our den and connected to full surround sound provides a fantastic viewing experience.
As the sun begins to set, the time where house lights are not yet on but dark enough in the room that the picture comes to life, is a great time to show off. Netflix movies, ESPN, Discovery all share a really great picture with the local daily news.
The negative is the remote control. If you review the picture quality, the monitor’s simple design, with the wire management stand, you question who put this remote control in the box. The internal speakers are not worth reviewing and should not be considered as an alternative to the sound.
The lack of written documentation both in the box and online did not effect the score but should be offered to help begin to understand there is so much more then just a pretty picture. This Sony monitor is light years ahead of the old plasma, connected via WiFi with internet access through built-in Chrome-cast. I am taking the long road to learn how to interface with my iPhone, iPad and MacBook but enjoying the view along the way.

Hi, Hollowoak, Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experience with your new Bravia TV. We will forward your concerns to the relevant team. Thank you for choosing Sony! -Vincent
Worked great for 46.5 days. Turned off and will not restart. Attempted Sony restart and reset instructions in Sony owners manual. Also, attempted the same following the Sony website instructions. TV will not turn on. Had technician do circuit check, results: power to TV ok, but no power to the screen.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hi mikey27, We regret to hear about what happened. Please follow the troubleshooting steps on the link below to resolve this issue:
We had our main smart TV go belly-up about a month ago. We did a short look on what TV's are available right now and were sold on the picture quality of the new XBR-49X900F Sony Smart TV. So far we like it. Pros: auto sensing for input levels, width and breadth of apps setup on the TV, good sound for our needs. Cons: The voice recognition takes you back to a global Sony search. I would like it to be able to fill search and password fields on voice recognition (like Apple TV.)
