Good player if just the basics are what you need.

I replaced an older Sony with this one because we had invited people over in a few days to share a Netflix movie. So I didn't really have time to investigate. The unit hooked up easily and set-up was quick. Picture quality is just fine on my 65" LED screen. But keep in mind the following: Almost all functions are controlled exclusively from the remote, and there is no digital counter to make it possible to see where you left off if you have to leave the unit quickly. If I had realized that I would have purchased the next level up that at least had a counter.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Purchased this Blue Ray player a little while ago, plugged it in and have not issues. The features work as advertised and now I can stop streaming Netflix from my Wii and just do it through this device. A great product for the price. No issues to report.

Smart simplicity

All the functionality a BR player needs plus the streaming capabilities of many stand-alone TV streamers. This model requires a wired internet connection which actually yields better performance by limiting hiccups and increasing buffer speed. I had a close by Ethernet port and saved significant money not needing the wireless function.
Set up was simple and the on screen menus make it all very intuitive.
Wrap it up in a stylish, minimalist form factor, include a cute functional remote and you have a smart purchase.

Works great, love the apps, make sure you have wired ethernet nearby and you will not regret your purchase. If you don't have wired ethernet pay $10 more and get the next model up for the same great experience, but wireless.

I bought this low-end, Blu-Ray Disc Player (Sony BPDS1200) for a family that ONLY uses it to play movies or audio CDs 1-2 times per week. No web surfing, no digital connections, etc. For this use it is quite fine. True plug and play...after all these years, it's the first device I could connect and use as intended. That's first EVER.
Ease of use is quite good. Controls are mostly intuitive, even for technologically challenged family members. There is one difficulty, however. Occasionally when you stop using the player and turn off it's controls, it actually returns you to the television use (cable), enabling immediate TV viewing. Most times, it just gives you a blank screen and you must search out the TV's remote, find the input button and select the proper mode for cable viewing. Then you can resume watching TV.
For this low-end use that deliberately avoids employing all the "features" loaded onto the device, it serves quite well and I would indeed recommend it to others. The price point--below $70 and sometimes significantly cheaper is also appealing.

I've had this player for about 6months now and no problems. It turns on very fast, blu ray disc loading is also fast. It plays perfectly and has built in decoders so my receiver doesn't have to decode any audio. The apps are nice, there are tons of video apps built in. Overall very pleased. I have mostly Sony products in my home, (receiver, ps3 and ps4, speakers..) And I have never had any issues with quality when it comes to sony. Would definitely recommend.

Lives up to my expectations and Sony quality

This BD/DVD player was exactly what we wanted and at a great price. I have always purchased Sony for it's quality and they continue to live up to my expectations. This player was a breeze to connect and have not had any problems. I would suggest checking for firmware upgrades and upgrading when available. Others have experienced problems, but I have not. I have this BD/DVD player connected to my home theater system and it has all of the connections that I need.

I got far more out of this product than I ever expected. I spent $60 for it and it delivered big time. I could not stream shows on my smart TV using Netflix and Netflix Customer Service told me it must be due to my Internet speed which was wrong. Running my Internet through this Blu-Ray player it allowed me access to numerous online sites and streamed flawlessly. It also loads fast and automatically will switch back and forth to TV mode or Player mode just by turning it on or off, no intervention necessary. I have a wired Internet connection to this device and it works perfectly. Blu-Ray discs and standard discs played brilliantly.
