If your on a budget its a good lens to start with, when you have adequate light its amazing. When it becomes low-light situations, might as well pack it up because its not worth it this lens is not suitable for it. Sold lens and got a 85mm and 24mm L, Primes are the best!
Pros: Fast auto-focus, budget lens
Cons: Semi-sharp images
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I shoot video professionally with my 5D Mlll. This lens is light and good for personal travel. If it got beat up or dinged its not a heartbreak. Great for use in industrial dirty areas or the beach. I let my teenagers use this too. I have Great Canon 2.8 lenses for most of my work. I wish this came in 2.8!

The lens is loose so if slips when you point it down. It's not that sharp all the time and it doesn't take pictures in low light very well.
Pros: Fast auto-focus
Cons: Semi-sharp images, Poor build quality
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This lens is a good lens but has a poor build quality. Lens does not hold in place so radles and zooms out if facing down. Takes good pictures and and are shape images. Over all a good lens when it comes to images but bad lens for build quality.
Pros: Fast auto-focus, Super-sharp images
Cons: Poor build quality
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Disapointed

This lens does give sharp clear images most of the time, unless you are touching the outer barrel of the lens (which can move up and down an 1/8th of an inch) and can greatly distort or re-frame the picture you are trying so hard to capture. I expected more from a great company like Canon.

Had this lens for 2yrs now and used mostly as a 'walking around' lens. The focus is poor compared to just about any other lens producing much-less-than-sharp images. Despite the low cost, it's just not worth the money. I'm in the process of choosing a replacement. Probably won't resell this as I wouldn't wish it on anyone, it's that bad.
Pros: inexpensive, img. stab. great
Cons: semi-sharp, cheap, poor optics, slow focus
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
