NVW-485 Wi-Fi HD

quality is quite good but not without its problems . as its wifi signal from camera to nvr you would expect cameras to just have one small power cable !!!!WRONG has 3 cables and massive LAN plug so if you want these for outside you have to drill massive 28mm hole on walls to get cables in there is no hiding a hole this big . cameras give false motion detection all the time had them set up perfectly made no difference had to set sensitivity so low that i could dance in front of camera and it would not record a event but soon as it starts raining or a bus drives buy a street light or the wind blows or there is interference on the wifi signal you get false alerts . so in the end you are false d to turn off email push notification because you just get to many so whats the point in having it if it can not be used. i wanted it for the notifications so when away i would be alerted but if the weather was bad you would spend all your time checking until you then ignore then whats the point in having it.

Disappointing range

Wi-Fi range very disappointing and Station mode does not work. Also, it is a shame that I need two different programs to view my wired and wireless cameras (SwannView Link and SwannView Plus Client).

We are sorry to hear the about the issues you are having with the cameras in station mode. Normally, station mode is fully functional. There may be some setting you have to adjust. I recommend contacting Swann Technical Support. They are able to assist you with Station mode. They are open 24/7. 1800 627 2799 option 2

Swann build a good Security system, the hardwear should last years, BUT!! the WiFi system lets it down, Swann use the 2.4Ghz range, which is also used by your computer, ipod, right down to roller doors, and the list is growing every day.. Also the number of people using these items is growing. Meaning more and more a fighting for there shear of the 2.4ghz range...

The NVW-485 wireless system with wireless cameras was very easy to set up and operating, even by someone in their 70's. No messy video cables to run inside walls and ceiling, a wireless based system is the only way to go. The biggest PLUS is 'Peace of Mind' by being able to go anywhere in the world (where an internet service is available) and monitor the cameras protecting the house, even on a cruise ship.

Spent plenty of time looking at options with all brands. The search narrowed to Swann and then a choice from models with similar specs. I have hit the nail on the head with the selection of the NVW-485 system.

Swann NVK-485 2 camera wireless system

Decided to go with the Swann based on favorable reviews and the large storage capacity of the DVR (1TB), and also, the fact that the cameras are weatherproof, IP66 rating, meaning exposure to rain is fine. Some of their competitors don't use cameras this weather proof....read carefully! Setup was quick and easy, and the phone app works great and is compatible with Android or Apple so no worries there, that was another very important feature for me as I can view what's going on at home no matter where I am, as long as there's WIFI available for my phone to connect to. Great system overall, glitch free operation.
