Recently purchased 30" 936 range hood based on needed measurements & reasonable ratings. The product seems fine other than the headache of installation (based on the 7" vertical only exhaust/motor mount) in any place other than new construction. GE contributes to the headache based on (stated nicely) vague/poorly written instructions. One example is a bag containing no less than 25 screws, washers & misc. for mounting & assembly. Other than a picture showing that the bag should exist, there is no information/diagram to indicate what goes where. In addition to the product, Ge provides for a waste of your time. In addition to a fairly hefty price the purchaser must provide a great deal of patience. Thanks so much GE for making a fairly difficult task unnecessarily more difficult. If it were not for limited options based on size requirements, I would have returned this product. Three (3) stars for the product, due to design imperfections, zero (0) stars for GE. I would recommend this product for new construction. For existing construction, be advised!

Great product

I bought this to replace a microwave with exhaust and there is no comparison on the performance. This product has variable speeds and the low works great to exhaust quietly for baking and the high is phenomenal for exhausting stove top cooking!

As well as being a beautiful focal point in my kitchen, I love the fact that my GE hood is so quiet. Unless I have it on the high settings, I hardly hear it at all. Does a great job of removing steam from cooking pots, too.

This handsome powerful range hood does its job beautifully, drawing all the steam and cooking odors out of the kitchen without excessive noise. And the lighting is terrific as well. Two motors do a remarkable and relatively quiet job. It is such an improvement over our previous and expensive hood. The workmanship is superb, as well, with all corners of heavyweight stainless welded and burnished. Impressive.

Replaced an older hood. Not to hard to install. Has older style switches Should have push button controls and LED lights would be nicer.

Some Terrific Features and Some Not So Great!

I've had my hood about 5 years. It moves lots of air, and does a reasonable job as a hood. It's kind of everything I expected from the reviews I read online. There is one serious drawback however. The hood needs to be cleaned fairly regularly. The oil and grease catching filters work well. But the hood's sheet metal filter holders are a maintenance nightmare. It's like GE's design team stopped before finishing the project, and it could have been so easy to do it right.
