The Best Phone I've Ever Owned
on November 9, 2015

Bought this phone 3 days ago and it is flawless. I am a blackberry dinosaur and loyal fan of many years. I bought the phone primarily for the physical keyboard, which is just one of the fabulous features this device.
The merger between blackberry and android seems to have enhanced both companies in my opinion. The OS is flawless thus far and physical features work just as well. You can use the physical keyboard if you want but the virtual keyboard work great too.
Minor trials with transferring over old data from old devices but this is small price to pay for the outstanding functionality of this phone. I am not using hyperbole when I say this is my best phone ever. Better then iPhone, android HTC one M8 and all previous blackberrys I've ever owned. Very satisfied after three days of use.

Finally something different!

I love this phone for a few reasons: android, security, and keyboard. The slab design of most phones these days is pretty boring. I'm very excited for something new and different. When I was in the store they mentioned that this phone wasn't running on the latest version of Android...but really who cares. It will get updated at some point, and I'm sure the incremental improvements in a slightly newer version of Android is not earth shattering.
Love this phone!

Everything I've been waiting for and more!

I have been waiting forever for a physical keyboard phone offering all the productivity advantages of BBOS/BB10, combined with top of the line screen real estate, and of course, all the apps that I could possibly need.
With the Priv, Blackberry gave me my dream phone finally!
First, the device itself feels great, high quality, and even better, it has my trusty blackberry keyboard tucked away behind a pretty impressive sliding mechanism that I don't think any phone has ever mastered. World's better than the old blackberry torch which wasn't too shabby itself.
Next, the OS. Win. Win. Win. I was very concerned how BBRY would transfer it's productivity advantages over to a whole new interface in Android. While there are still tweaks and work to be done to shore that up, I think they have introduced the phone at an optimal level of productivity and I know based on recent BB10 history, that plenty of productivity updates are in the works and getting ready to be pushed out asap. The hub, combining all communications into one folder, is a solid start from BB10 but it definitely will get 5 stars from me once they integrate all apps like instagram/snapchat/etc... As is, it still did what I was hoping pretty well. No peak feature but BBRY did a good job incorporating some of swipe features of BB10 into the blackberry launcher.
Camera looks pretty good so far, on par with other flagship devices from samsung and the like.
All in all, it's early in my use so far but as of now, I feel very comfortable giving this 4 stars on launch and I expect soon enough I will see it as the five start physical keyboard device I've always wanted.
Go out and get one as fast as you can, it's like no other Android phone out there on the market to day and a fresh new take on the generic slab touchscreen phone.

Blackberry Priv Begins

I've held on to my Blackberry Q10 for a little over 2 years and the Blackberry Priv was definitely worth the wait!! The Blackberry virtual and physical keyboard put this phone in a class of its own. In addition, the Blackberry Hub allows you add all your accounts so you never miss what's most important to you and the 18 mega pixel camera already has everyone wanting to use my phone to take every picture. Amazing phone!!

the best of both worlds

Full disclosure: I am a BB user for at least 15 years and thus might be prejudiced ;-)
nevertheless PRIV is what I have been waiting for last several years. Granted, previous versions of BB that I have been using (Pearl, Z10) provided great security and reliability (especially when I was a corporate user) but now as a private user I missed a lot of useful applications available for Android but not for BB OS. Now my wish has come true and the device itself is a pleasure to use: nice fit in the palm, great display, excellent camera (18 Mpx!) and a real hardware keyboard! Excellent product!

The Priv is a simply a great phone

The Priv is the most surprised I've been by a phone since I got an iPhone 3G several years ago. Since then, I've owned one other Blackberry device, a Z10 which I bought early in 2013 and still works as well today (after a level of abuse which I am almost embarrassed to think of) as it did then, which is a level of build quality unrivaled in the newer, more powerful devices I've owned since then. Ultimately, the lack of apps (this was before the amazon appstore) became a bigger deal for me and I ended up with android. The physical keyboard was not a major priority, but I find myself writing lengthy emails and online posts and it has made them significantly less frustrating and quicker. I haven't had much time with the phone but the build is sturdy, the design is nice, materials are good.
The screen is extremely crisp and clear and the camera makes my HTC One's camera seem like VGA (and just about any past blackberry cameras, too), improved backlighting is appreciated here. The improved security isn't a top priority for me, but it is still peace of mind and it's not invasive like Knox can sometimes be. The phone is fast as you'd expect something with its specs to be. Hub is a feature I have missed on Android and Blend is fantastic. I do wish it was a bit faster taking pictures but it really is one of the best. Although I wasn't totally sure about the price tag and execution like many, I'm really happy with the purchase. I'd like to see Marshmallow running on here soon; I've heard sometime early next year and I hope it's true. Overall, worth the money assuming it's as well made as my other BB and how nice the product and UX is.

Finally, BlackBerry comes back with PRIV !!

I really commend BB for coming up with this model of phone PRIV.
As other users mention, this is the device we all have been waiting for ........
It brings best of both worlds, BB robust Hardware & flexibility of Android.
Really happy to see that the BB Hub has been retained, even if as an app to comply with Android.
I would look for few improvements in the next version:
* Overheating
* Battery life, probably tied to overheating
* Better Bluetooth connectivity, in stereo/music playback mode
Overall great product & gives both Samsung & Apple the competition they needed.
Would have given 6 stars if there was an option!!
Cheers!!

Man I've been waiting for a device like this for so long! I love my Samsung but I miss the physical keyboard even more. I bought this from an store and I am so stoked to have one. It's very snappy, has a great camera and it's very pleasing in the hand. I highly recommend!
