Great Air Conditioner

After our old 10000 BTU died and facing a heat wave, we went out and purchased this air conditioner.
Pros: HUGE cooling capacity. This unit can cool over 1600 square feet. I turned on my furnace fan and it is cooled enough to cool the whole house!
Power saver mode is great, cycles the air conditioner on only when the preset temp drops. I use that overnight when we are all in bed.
Air louvers are very cleverly designed and allow for very accurate control of the air flow.
Cons: BIG. HEAVY. BULKY. Did I mention heavy? Ok, well it is 25000 BTUs! The task of installing this A/C is made simplier by the fact that the housing and the actual A/C unit can be seperated. One installs the housing first and then (with the help of another person) places the 'guts' into the frame. This was a relatively simple task, but plan for another able-bodied person to help with the install.
Bottome line: it is 101 degrees outside right now (7/7/12) and it is 70 degrees in my home. Great unit with a great warranty (7 years). I highly recommend this unit.

bad customer service

When I purchased the unit it worked great. But after a week the compressor went out. I called customer service and they set up service for the unit. The service center fixed the unit after two week and I reinstalled the unit. This year the first time I went to use the unit it ran all night without cooling the room. I called customer service and they gave me a phone number to call for a service. The first available service date for repair is two weeks out. I had this unit a year and have been unable to use it. Frigidaire makes good products but when they break getting help is a headache.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Overall I'm pleased with this unit. This is the first Frigidaire unit of this size I've purchased. My previous unit was a different brand, which served us well after many years, but that was no longer being made. This was recommended by my heating & AC people. So far, so good!
