Simply the best compuphone I have had!

I call it a compuphone as it is very much a computer with a cell phone built in. This phone is the Ferrari of cell phones, it is fast thanks to its 2.5 GHz Quad-Core processor, that is four cores!, such as this was not very long ago heard of in a cell phone! Games play smoothly at the highest settings in the games. The camera is outstanding at a full 16.0 Megapixels that is superior to the digital camera I owned recently and it was high end, the pictures are crisp and it's easy to use. The internal ROM of 16 Gig is more than sufficiently large, add up to 128 Gig Memory Card and its simply immense, all this storage makes the phone an all around delight to use as you can have a dizzying amount of apps and many other items.
The only downside I find with the phone is the battery, which depletes rather quickly under a more than average load and with the WiFi enabled. But this can be solved relatively easily by a quick search on amazon for extended batteries or other charging devices. Plus I find the Fingerprint Scanner wonderful for security and access, it saves a great deal in typing.
Add a Samsung Gear watch and your at the top of your game! ;-) Some serious geek joy!!
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight
Cons: battery doesnt stand up to elevated usage.
I would recommend this to a friend!

If I had reviewed this phone prior to being forced to upgrade to "lollipop" I would have rated it 5 star all the way. However, since the upgrade I have had nothing but problems with this phone. Battery life is poor, the phone gets hot when you are using it, it's slow and phone connection is poor.
Cons: Poor quality, can not support lollipop.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Worked ok but the camera has a ring around it which fell into the sight of the lens making the camera useless so don't buy it if you want to take pictures because you'll just end up with a black blob.
Cons: Too big, Did not meet expectations, Poor quality
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Upgraded from S3 to S5
on May 8, 2014

I have happily used my S3 for the last 2 years. I upgraded to the S5 and, thus far, these are the problems I've had.
1) The day after I received my phone, I stopped receiving text messages completely. I worked with the T-mobile rep to rectify it. I had to do a hard reset on the phone. Although I never received my missed texts, it seemed to work after that. I was told that the phones were shipped with faulty software that Samsung was aware of. Texts have worked fine since them.
2) The speakerphone is a half-duplex instead of full duplex. That means that when the other person was talking or making noise on their end, they could never hear me. I was never sure if they were hearing what i was saying or if it was actually going through. For example, if I was talking to someone on speakerphone who was in their car and had a lot of noise on their end, they would never hear me. As someone who uses speakerphone a lot, this is a major problem. My Samsung S3 was full duplex. I never had this problem.
3) My email never properly synced with my server. If i looked at emails on my computer, they would still show as unread on my phone even AFTER I hit the sync button. I would delete emails on my phone and after I synced, they would re-appear.
4) I would choose a specific ringtone for different friends and it would only work SOMETIMES. One time I might get the ringtone that I specified and another time I might get my generic ringtone. No rhyme or reason.
5) Because I live in NYC, some subway stations have cell service and others do not. If I sent a text when I didn't have service, it SHOULD simply send when I got above ground or to a station that had service. It wouldn't. The text would just sit there and never send. I would have to copy/paste it to a NEW text and send again.
6) I used the map service to find a friend who was several blocks away. I had an address and when I put it into the phone, it sent me in the complete wrong direction. In fact, the map started spinning as if it had no idea how to locate where I was or where I was going.
7) There was a serious lag because of Touchwiz. It's almost as if the phone is thinking about what it needs to do.
I'm waiting for a replacement phone from T-mobile but I'm not sure if the new phone will fix ANY of these problems but if it doesn't, I'm going to have to choose a new one. Samsung REALLY rushed this one out.
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations, horrible speakerphone quality
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Such an amazing phone

Finally!!! A phone that takes into mind how normal people may use it... From relative water proofing to superb camera function, The Galaxy S5 takes the crown hands down. I jumped from a galaxy S3 to the Galaxy S5 and what a huge difference in experience. The battery lasts a lot longer, the phone function is easy to understand, and the added functions really help with privacy. The fingerprint security feature is great. The Private mode is really good as well. I can't wait to see what the next phone has in store... that's Why I signed up with a carrier that allows upgrades Annually!
Pros: Bright display, Durable, privacy mode, batery life
Cons: not enough ram
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great phone but bad signal strength
on April 12, 2014

I picked up a Sprint S5 on release day. Like all the features but the signal strength is horrible. My S3 shows -89 dBm while my S5 -108 dBm. It is 20 points below on average in a number of different locations. -120 is no service at all so I am barely getting any service. I will probably be returning it. Sprint doesn't have the best service around my location so this is a deal breaker.
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color, Lightweight
Cons: Did not meet expectations, signal strength
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
