Very good battery life

This phone was replacement for a Galaxy S4 which was itself, a big step above anything owned or used prior. Virtually everything seemed to be an improvement over an already very nice phone plus more added features. Only one little nagging issue is the "special" charging plug with some sort of very heavy duty cord and the little dangling "weather tight" cover for the charging port. Fortunately a USB micro B will fit in the right hand portion of the charging port so that various other cords of the users choice may be used instead of the dedicated cable furnished. The weather tight charging port cover is a bit of a pain to pry open when almost any sort of protective phone cover is installed.
Bottom line, the phone is pretty friendly for a seventy eight year old without a great deal of phone savvy, or nearby grand children to assist.

Best phone i ever HAD!!

I had alot of phones in the past but this is my favorite. . I bought a galaxy s5 active once then i sold it for a iphone but thats the biggest mistake i ever made.. so i bought my s5 back and never gonna sell it again!
In the store I compared the S5 side by side with the S6. While the S6 was certainly sleeker looking, the S5 seemed to have had as good a screen and felt solid. So I went with the S5 because of the bundle deal through my company, at substantially less than the S6. .
After having the S5 in hand now for about one month, I can say it hasn't disappointed yet. It is big and fast and the screen is good enough for my purposes, which is mostly work calls, emails, messaging, and some light app usage (Google Maps, etc).
Battery life has been strong so far, a full day with minimal to average usage, which is really good given that my work requires me to load some seriously battery sucking security and email SW. By comparison on my Samsung S4 Mini that upgraded from, I could usually only get through to lunchtime before recharging or keeping the phone on a pocket battery stick.
The fingerprint reader was kind of a bust, too finicky for everyday use, so I switched back to password lock on the lock screen, which my company requires and I am used to using anyway. The camera seems to take a little while to focus, but takes really good pictures.
Call quality is good, bluetooth pairing was painless. I switched the MicroSD card from my old phone, so all my old photos came with me without having to backup and restore, a nice touch that wouldn't be possible with the S6.
Basically, the S5 is not the newest technology, but it is a proven winner, and that's good enough for me.
i have had this phone for about 2 weeks and so far i am still learning all about it. it has great features on it and it is water and dust proof. i am sure it will hold up just as well as all of the other Samsung products that i have or have had. i do recommend this and all other Samsung products to my friends.
I like how it feels and performs compared to other phones I've used. One thing I don't like is that when I'm using bluetooth headphones at the gym, it goes into locked mode until I turn off bluetooth, I haven't found out how to disable this, but it's annoying. I also don't like that I don't really have full control over what apps are installed and run. One last minus, I have the wireless charging backplate and get warned to check that it's on from time to time, though it always seems to be on correctly. I also would occasionally get this warning with the standard back. Even with the minuses, I really like the phone over-all. It works pretty well for most things and I really like the finger swipe reader, I wish more apps would use it.
