Interesting Smart Phone, but it's not for me.

The S5 was the "best value, least marketed (which keeps the price down), and it was Android," at the time of my Sprint "upgrade." I bought an Otter Box for protection, I keep it charged, and slowly but surely things change. It very well could be my EM Field, but the phone has serious issues. I lose "contacts" constantly, I lose my gmail calendar, I lose my notes, the Otter Box is broken, and the water tight seal at the charger was built to "fail" in less than one year. Something that small is not built to last. I like very much that Google understands my accent, as other brands didn't understand "Southern languages!"! Google can understand "yawl," "can I help you?," and other other southern drawl out there! Kit Kat OS was great, but now that I'm older, I don't want change and Lollipop is not user friendly. The options with Lollipop are gone. I wish you could have just made a Kit Kat upgrade, not a complete OS change. I don't like the phone now and would not recommend using Lollipop, unless one starts out with Lollipop and gets used too the program changes. Also, the phone locks up at times, has to be rebooted, kept off for several days to "redo" it's mistakes. Nice looking, great voice recognition, but other brands are more user friendly!
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color
Cons: Not high def, Did not meet expectations, not durable, speakers are cheap, will not stay on a wifi consistently, it's almost an anarchist ai, waterproofing charger cap failure, pricey for quality
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great phone until the Lollipop Update
on March 7, 2015

I would have given everything 5 stars on this rating before I downloaded the recent Lollipop update. The update is TERRIBLE. The tweaks to the interface make notifications more obnoxious and in the way, and the keyboard is awful. I can barely read the letters and the secondary characters for each letter are nearly invisible.
I highly recommend this phone WITHOUT the Lollipop update. You ruined a good thing, Samsung. I hope you fix this soon.
Pros: Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight
Cons: terrible software update

Back to Android

The wife and I needed new phones, she wanted a bigger screen and better camera, so we decided to leave the fruit behind and move back to Android. Our choice of the S5 was a good one. The camera is great, she loves it and the screen is bigger, clearer and everything just looks great on it. The buttons on the side are well positioned and the phone responds quickly to commands.
My only two caveats are the charging cord, it's not a standard mini-usb connector so all my extra cords won't work with it but, it seems more secure and stable when plugged in, and the battery drains a bit quickly.
All in all, great phone (I still think all cell phones are too expensive in general).
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight
Cons: all cell phones are too expensive, battery drains a bit quickly

When talking on the ohone, people cant hear me!

This is SO FRUSTRATING! EVERY call I am on people tell me over and over again that theycannot hear me. I am constantly told to talk into the phone... but I already AM. Sometimes speakerphone helps, but only momemtarily before it start up again. Ive tried everything suggested...MAJOR FLAW. When I get a new phone, it definitely will NOT be the s5. Its far to frustrating when I use my phone primarily for business.
Cons: bad sound when talking w/ caller. muffled/breaks u

Bought S5 instead of iPhone

I had read a lot of reviews that liked iPhone better, so I asked several salesmen to "sell me " on an iPhone. The S5 always came out on top with the features that were important to me:
o better battery life
o inexpensive memory upgrade.
o removable/replaceable battery
o micro-usb charge and thumb drive capability
o ever notice all cracked screens are on iPhones
o swipe keyboard, can't live w/o it.
o Lower cost.
o I'm a techie and love all the tweaks you can do with Android
Pros: Bright display, Inexpensive, Durable, micro usb port they are everywhere
Cons: no siri
