I had my GS3 for 2.5 years.. Finally upgraded to a S5.. I LOVE IT!! This phone destroys all other devices.. Plain and simple.. Highly recommend..

Waterproof - Oh Yeah!

After only having my S5 for a week, I placed it on my car trunk & drove off to the store 6 miles away through a rainstorm. When I got there & went to reach for my phone, it occurred to me what I'd done and I was afraid to look, but there it was right where I'd left it & no water damage!
Some credit has to go to the case which kept it from sliding off the car: Galaxy S5 Case, Spigen Tough Armor Case
Only complaint is the hinged cover where you plug in the charger - a real pain to open, but probably helps to keep it waterproof.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight
Cons: charger cover

This phone has been amazing. Its the perfect size, and I haven't had much trouble out of it, except for the new Lollipop update. Since I updated my phone, it's has been kind of slow and laggy, so I'm hoping there will be an update soon to fix those issues.

Cons: laggy, fingerprint scanner not always successful

My first smartphone is turning out to be a good decision.

After talking to people, and looking at reviews, and talking to people at the store, we decided that our first smartphone would be the Galaxy s5. We have had a flip phone forever, but it was just time to move on. Too many things that people were telling us that they could do with their phone made it apparent we had ridden that horse as far as possible. I have to say that it was less painful than I thought. I was expecting a bigger learning curve, but it has been easy enough between the wife and I doing a little reading and exploring to figure out how to make most of the apps work and which ones we were not interested in. I like the look of it and it's bright enough and the text can be adjusted to make things easier on my old eyes to see. Even learned to text. Don't think I'll be wasting my life away looking at the phone, but it has been useful in the ways we wanted it to be.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Lightweight, camera is very good
Cons: some of the button placements
