Beautiful Monitor except one performance issue

My computer monitor BDM4350UC randomly goes black for 4-5 seconds several times a day then works fine. This is extremely annoying.
Also, it really needs a remote for volume control and input selection. That little joystick on the back of the unit is very hard to get to and clumsy. I am not sure if I can purchase one or not.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I like everything about this monitor especially compared to the previous 40" monitor I had been using. It only took a few minutes out of the box to be up and running. The only question I would have is why the on/off switch is on the back in a place very hard to reach. This is not a factor for me though since I am using the settings on the computer to shut the display down, but it is awkward.

BDM4350UC Monitor - Request for improvements .
on April 21, 2017
Posted by: Kingcrimson
BDM4350UC Monitor
This is request for some small improvements that can have great effect on user experience .
1- Support for PIP/PBP from smart control software
or other application . this is a MUST .
2- Ability to disable the 1 bit black line between windows in PBP mode .
When I use 1 PC with multi screen I would like to have
one smooth picture cross wide . with no line in the middle .
3- Ability to disable automatic screen feed change in PBP mode .
when main input is off , screen may choose other
input that has working feed , not always desirable .
4-In PBP 2 windows would like to have 2 higher windows
like 1920X1200 or even 1920X1400
windows keep compress to 1920X1080
5- In PBP 2 windows would like to have 2 "rotated" windows of 2160 X 1920 ( or other resolution )
Like many physical screens support 90DEG rotation .
All my suggestions are software only
I believe within Philips capabilities . with small effort .
Thanks
Eran
Pros: great resolution great colors .
Cons: no pc full parameters control .

A great monitor in more sense than one.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have previously had Phillips' 40 VA variant for a couple of years before this. They are both great and quite similar, and offers great value for money.
Both IPS and VA have there technical benefits and issues. VA have better blacks, IPS have less colour distortion viewed from an angle. So what is preferable is a matter of usage pattern. I use mine primarily for multi windows and less for imaging, so the slightly 'grey' version of black of IPS is not an issue to me, but ease of read of text even in corners is (hence the upgrade).
I'm quite picky on flickering, and this one is flicker free.
A QFHD monitor this size is PERFECT for stuff like Lync, where someone can share their FHD/QHD desktop, and you still got space for the videos.
I also often use it with four different about FHD size windows side by side.
When you place it on the desk the first time, it feels humongous, but after a few days I loved it.
Of course it is also great for watching images or videos, but that almost go without saying.
I recommend dismounting the protruding thing below the frame (two screws), this improves the design a LOT!!
And as the LED can't be turned off, you might want to cover it with a sticker or use a black marker to dim it.
Pros: ips got really good viewing angles, large qfhd is perfect for lync, great for multi-windows usage, the stable mount is good for elevation tables, protruding block removable
Cons: ips got slightly grey blacks, the lack of mount adjustment on a non elev. table, led can not be turned off, manual somewhat inaccurate

Very Nice Display with Some Fatal Flaws
on September 11, 2019

I really wanted to love this Display. There is so much to like. It has a big beautiful panel, all of the right inputs (HDMI,DP,VGA) and a nice built in USB 3.0 hub.
The huge problem is that for all of the good things that are a part of this package, the designers threw it all away when they locked you in to only a few modes for PIP/PBP. I'm not sure who thought that only one 2 screen and one 3 screen mode configuration were sufficient and that it was ok to just black mask windows rather than scaling them when sources don't quite conform...
You really with a display like this need to have the option to have both portrait and landscape configurations of each source for both the dual and 3 screen formats. Obviously the quad screen is what it is.
I don't think that the designers quite realize that many folks would want to use it in a mode other than single screen or quad screen... I ended up sending this one back and buying a display from another manufacturer that would allow me to have a widescreen display across the top half and two smaller quadrants across the bottom, or a portrait display on the left and two landscape quadrants on the right... This display just had no flexibility of setup.
So sad because I really liked the overall package...
Pros: pretty picture, bright, sharp, lightweight
Cons: poor user interface, poor onscreen layout for pip/pbp, nonexistent firmware updates.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Excellent monitor. 43 inches of 4k delight. Comparison shopped several popular brands and models prior to making my purchase. Could not have made a better choice for my applications.
Pros: several usb 3.0 connectors, multiple display port hdmi etc connections, ips panel, 4k @60hz
Cons: none
