Battery low

I have bought 4 batteries and plugged this device in the wall and it keeps beeping lb low battery.. I bought two of these and both are doing the same thing. Any suggestions? I'm returning them.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello. What is the alarm doing when you plug in the battery and don't plug the alarm into the outlet?
Another issue we have seen recently is that our alarms have a unique way of testing the batteries. The alarm runs on battery alone for a fraction of a second and measures changes of resistance and voltage of the batteries. Our alarms have been rated and tested to be used with the brand and exact model of batteries listed in the owner's manual. Off brand batteries can be read as low when they are not. Also batteries close to their use-by dates can often be too weak for our alarm. We would recommend the brand and model of alkaline 9v batteries listed in the owner's manual with a really good use-by date of 3 to 4 years out at least.
Before you replace the alarm, please call us at 1-800-880-6788 with the alarm in hand. We do stand behind our products and we are happy to troubleshoot and figure out what is going on and get an issue resolved.

We have a gas furnace, wood stove, and attached garage. All can be sources of carbon monoxide. We have been using this KN-COPP-3 for two years now and have it plugged into an AC wall outlet with a battery for backup. We especially like the peak level memory display to see if we've had any detectable CO levels in the house. Highly recommend.

Second one and buying a third.

Came home to it sounding a tone, happy it did not happen at 3am. This was our second one to reach its end of life and within days of exactly 10 years. Never had it go off intentionally or otherwise. My wife and I sleep well knowing this device has our backs! Buying another one today and happy they still make this model. I highly recommend this model of carbon monoxide detector. F.Y.I. the battery that came with both prior units lasted the 10-year life span.

Very good product

The product appears to work well and is easy to read day or night from across the room.
Mine suddenly started intermittently generating false positive alarms after about 10 years. At first I thought it was a defect, but the manual does say that you should replace the unit after 10 years. So I reckon that might be expected. Although the false alarm did occur at 4AM...

Ours lasted 23 years!!

Our alarm began sounding this evening with “err” code. I reset it, and although it did reset and appeared to be working fine again, the “err” beeping recurred within 2-3 minutes. Upon researching this error code online, I learned that the unit needs to be replaced. The manufacturing date on the unit is 2001, September, 18 so the fact that ours has lasted 23 years speaks for itself. We will be replacing this dead unit with another of the same if possible.

Overall, the Kidde Nighthawk Carbon Monoxide Detector is a very good carbon monoxide detector. We think it’s worth the money and would recommend it to our friends and family. If you want to buy the best Kidde Carbon Monoxide Detector. this sophisticated carbon monoxide detector will detect carbon monoxide in your home, alert you of the problem, and ultimately save your life. Just to put it into perspective.

Working great for 3+ years

I got this along with a lithium battery and it's been working for 3+ years. I'm sad they stopped making the KM-COPF-i detector that was flush mounted in the wall, I loved that model, but it's obsolete. This works just as good, but doesn't look as nice.
