Fantastic little speakers

After a fair amount of research on 2.0 compact speaker systems, I settled for the Jembe. Sure, you can get a Logitech system with a subwoofer for the same price, but I wanted something compact and portable. Plus a cheap subwoofer can be pretty overpowering, especially if the system doesn't have bass/treble adjustment.
After a week, I'm very satisfied with these little guys. They have a rich, clear sound with no hint of distortion and an excellent ballance between powerful bass, steady mid, and crisp treble. I live in a small bachelor apartment, and I've never needed to turn the volume up more than half way. Usually it sits below a quarter: they have a LOT of sound.
The design is great too: they're small, sexy, and will fit pretty much anywhere. The volume wheel on the top of one of the speakers is super convenient: no more pushing stuff around and fiddling around with little hard-to-reach nobs. Plus, these speakers are small enough that you can easily pack them up and take them with you in a small bag.
A lot of the reviews I've read complain about the auto shut-down feature. However, I've found this to be just another great perk. If there's no sound coming out of the speakers for over 3 minutes, they'll automatically shut down. I've never had them shut down in the middle of a song or movie, and when you play something, they automatically come back on in under two seconds.
My only qualm so far is the cable connection. The line between the two speakers and the aux audio jack are connected to the same cable, which gives you limited range for the aux. Also, the cord itself is fixed in the back of one of the speakers, which means the aux cable can't be easily replaced (and we all know how often those tend to get worn out, especially if you're constantly changing between different devices).
But all in all, these offer great sound for a decent price. If you're looking for portability and you don't have a huge space to fill, these are a buy.

Worst Speakers Ever!! Don't Buy!

I got these speakers, hooked up my ipod touch 5 and ipad 3. After a few minutes listening to music on pandora or my personal music, the volume just went quiet. I then turned the speakers off and on again, the sound came back, but it still did it like every 30 secs. I had sent them back and got another pair, but the problem wasn't resolved. It still does it. Apple even replaced my ipod, but that wasnt the problem. Bottem line: dont buy!

agree with other reviewers, they power off after a couple of minutes for no reason then you have to turn the volume control all the way down to the off position then back on again. only for the same thing to happen a couple of minutes later

2 audio sounds amazing
My boss gave me these speakers after he bought some new Klipsch system with a subwoofer. Instantly I was blown away by the sound quality. The highs are definetly sharp, crisp, and loud. The mids are also extroadinary. I hear things in my music that I had no idea were there. It's a huge difference from the lenovo thinkcentre speakers that are built into the monitor to these. I wanted to know more about them so I came to JBL.com and found all these dreadful reviews. I decided to write a review after a few months of owning them and I must say that they turn off when theres no audio and turn on when you press play. And I must add that even if the audio is so quiet you can't here it, the Jembe hear it and they turn on. JBL is an amazing company with amazing sounding speakers. Pricey, but if you want to spend 60 bucks on speakers, you cant go wrong here.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Will just shut off and you have to turn the volume off and back up. The sound gate threshold is set wrong, so watching voideos triggers it to power down, cuz they aren't loud enough. I cant believe they sell this garbage. Dont waste your money! They also sound very compressed at higher volumes.

I have no idea what is wrong. If the connector is partially plugged into the computer there is a humming sound When the connector is pushed all the way in the speakers do not work.
