Cool modern design

This unit replaced our 20+ year old Space maker unit that finally quit. Installation was fairly easy. Instructions were simple and straight forward. I do however, wish the mounting holes matched my old ones. The controls are simple to use with a modern look. It did not come with a tray but my old one fits very well. I hope I get the life equal to my old one.

Install Design Is BAD But Spacesaving Worth It

Our old one just slides in. The new design requires you to have things perfectly lined up to get the front hooked on and then the back while trying to hold it up and see behind to line up the brackets. Requires two people and even then not easy. Plus enough spacers were not provided and had to use old ones. The new spacers also just slide right off and the old ones did not. You should not "fix" things that are not broken!
Otherwise the unit works fine, except is does not have a broiler like the old one. But without searching far and wide this unit is what is readily available for those who need the spacesaving feature even though the cost is double a regular countertop unit. Someone else needs to provide some competition for this model. The old one lasted about 18 years...I guess that is not bad...relative to some things...

Have had a Black and Decker undercabinet toaster oven for 30+ years and am very satisfied. However, I'm afraid that this one will soon need replacement and find that you no longer make them. Please bring back this unit!

Worst installation design ever

The instructions are backwards, tells you to grab the back legs after hooking it on and the picture shows hands around the front legs assuming where the door is should be the front? After hook the back hooks the front would not hook in and stay, kept falling out until I bent the tabs up a bit so they would slide under further, its holding but seems like it will fall easy if whatever you put in is heavy, the tray is too close to the top burner and will burn your food unless you put foil over it. Way too expensive for such a poor design all around.

Mounting Instructions Confusing but Works Well

Definitely, the mounting instructions, dated 2014, are incorrect and the illustrations for them are mismatched.
For me, the easiest way to mount the oven is first to hook the front hooks of the hood into the slot at the front of the oven then lift the back of the oven to engage the hooks at the back of the hood.
While supporting the oven with one hand, use the other hand to ensure that the hooks are outside the mounting tabs so that they can hook on to the tabs properly, then pull down on the back of the oven so that the hooks and tabs are fully engaged.
If one of the hooks goes inside the tab, the oven will fall down.
For the operation of the oven, it works well enough but toasting was a bit uneven because of only one heating element on the top and bottom. A setting of 2 or 3 was a good starting point for toasting.

I bought this as it was the only under the counter available. Our previous one lasted years. This does not toast evenly if you center the bread on the rack. You need to experiment finding the best toasting position. The factory toast setting of 4 is way too high, mine is reset to "1" setting. if you can spare the counter space, stick with an on the counter oven.
