Braun HC5090 Hair Clipper

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this clipper from Braun at the perfect time; my old one (a cheapie from a different company) had just died.
I have now had the Braun for just over a week, and so far I am impressed. Over the years, I have had a number of clippers, ranging in quality from very cheap, to professional grade...and I would put the Braun towards the top of list (so far).
The Braun HC5090 charges quickly and then retains that charge very well. It cuts effectively and efficiently with no hair-snagging or bogging down whatsoever. The guides are easy to use and provide a nice uniform cut. A nice feature is the plug itself...unlike many others, it does NOT block the other plug while charging. Cleaning is easy, and Braun claims that the entire unit can be rinsed off with water (providing you allow it to dry completely afterwards).
After one week of use, I would rate the Braun HC5090 as an 8, on a scale of 1-10. So far...I would recommend this clipper to both family and friends; it has been a very pleasant surprise.

Good, Easy and Simple

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the HC5090 Clipper free from Braun for a review. The product's arrived allot quicker then expected. The packaging was well put together and easy to open, as it should be. The packaging involves Braun Hair Clipper, Beard trimming attachment, Long hair trimming attachment, AC charger, Charging base station, Blade lubricating oil, and a Small brush. The battier life is really good and the trimming attachments are ok but could be better with an upgrade. The height adjustment is a brilliant feature, with the push tab slider mechanism to adjust the height, and it won't budge as long as you keep your thumb off the button. The cut was very clean, found that out after i used it on my beard and also for shape up. The only big complain i have would be that the clipper can be hard to clean with hair getting inside the device. overall it was a good product, with great packaging, and very simple and easy to use. If you need something to got the job done and don't mind the extra cleaning then this is the Clipper for you.

A REALLY GREAT HAIR CLIPPER

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I could not wait to use the BRAUN hair clipper HC5090. It was a quick charge,just as advertised.
The blades are extremely sharp and I am sure that they will be long lasting.I started with the 3-24mm
short hair comb for my beard. it worked great and when you set the setting length it has a memory safety lock which keeps it cutting at this length until you need a different length. I then used the long hair clipper for my head.The 14-35mm comb is just perfect for your hair. It comes with great accessories like the charging stand,the travel bag, the cleaning brush and the oil bottle. I think the feature I like the most is the fact that the WHOLE unit is fully washable for easy cleaning.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love this set of clippers, the adjustability of the guards is really nice. Used it last night on my beard and it worked really Nicely. The 10 minute charger for the battery work pretty well too. I killed it intentionally to test it out and it was ready to use and charged in less then 10 minutes. Was a very easy clean too! Just rinsed and let it dry on a towel. I usually don't like the way the cordless ones work and only buy, corded units but, so far this one is working really well. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a trimmer or hair clippers.

Great Clipper for everyday use

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Braun Hair Clipper HC5090 simplicity is the key to its success. While the cordless feature isn't necessarily innovative on it's own, having a simple guard change setting turned out to be a great feature. This clipper is truly portable as you could easily charge it up and take it for the weekend trip and all you would need is the clipper. Especially if you like to trim and shape your beard on a regular basis. I like to keep my hair just a little bit longer than my beard but I like to use clippers for both. So the Braun Hair clipper worked out great for me. One of the main differences from my old clipper I noticed is that I didn't have to wade through 12-15 guards to find the right one. All I had to do was move it up and down to set it to the right length, which is a big improvement for me. And when you combine that with a product that you don't have to be tied to a wall socket to use, it really opens up a lot of possibilities for trimming your hair and beard. Outside cuts are much easier!
The product is also much easier to clean because you can actually get behind the blades which is nice. The clippers seemed a little smaller than what I was use to in terms of size, but I did notice that it actually helped me get the contours of my head and chin a little more even than my old bulkier clippers. The clippers are also much quieter as well while still providing a quality cut. Overall, theBraun Hair Clipper HC5090 is a great everyday multiuse clipper and a pleasure to use.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] In exchange for my honest review for Braun, I received the Braun Hair Clipper HC5090 for absolutely free! This set of clippers work wonderfully for me, and with only two trimmer clips and memory lock feature, its a no hassle process to cut my hair. The wireless option makes it even easier and the charge is fast. It seems powerful enough as well, my hair is rather thick and it didn't "bog down" once. The clippers worked well with facial hair as well, so well in fact that I'm now looking at Brauns' breard trimmers as well. The only issue I have with this product is that the bag the clippers come with to store them and the accessories is too small to hold all the items that came with it. Other than that I have no issues and it is a great product, thanks Braun!

OK clipper, the competition is better

First thing I noticed is that the packaging is nice, it's presentable and was easy to open. I hate those blister packs, so this was a pleasant uneventful unboxing, just how I like it.
In the package, I found the following items:

You're supposed to let the battery charge when using products for the first time as they will discharge during shipping and extended periods before they end up in actual use, but I was happy to see the battery had more than enough juice for my first use.
I tried out the smaller beard attachment first, and immediately noticed how flexible the plastic veins were, and it did not feel high quality. The one thing that was secure, was the height adjustment. There is a push tab slider mechanism to adjust the height, and it won't budge as long as you keep your thumb off the button, which was actually a bit hard to do since it's perfectly placed right where your thumb naturally rests while holding the clipper, and the lightest thumb press will release the lock and change the height.
The quality of the cut was great. For a device with fresh blades, I expect nothing less, and this did not disappoint. It makes a very big mess though, and hairs will get into every nook and cranny of the clipper, of which there are many. Just after one use, I was finding hairs under the sliding locking mechanism and all over inside the device. It was difficult to clean and stow away, but I suppose that's why the brush is provided.
Overall it is an OK trimmer. I just checked the prices online, and I really think this is too expensive for what you get. My go-to trimmer is the Philips Norelco 7300. It has a vaccum and battery monitor, along with a turbo function to speed up the motor. It is priced similarly and in my opinion is far superior in terms of build quality, features, and functionality. That is the reason why I only give it 3/5 stars, because there are better products you can get for similar cost.
