Works Inconsistently

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I think the Braun Silk epil 7 works great on finer hairs, but I've had poor results on any thicker hairs (underarm, etc.). Pain level is low to moderate depending on the sensitivity of the skin in the area. Have only tried it dry, will be testing the wet performance this week.

Pain Minimizing Epilator!
on August 29, 2015

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall, this is a pretty fantastic, quality epilator!
Key Points:
1. Comfort. Out of all the epilators I have ever tried, this one is definitely the least painful. Since my skin is used to epilation, it just feels like a slight poking sensation all over. While epilation is just, by its nature, uncomfortable, this one does a great job of minimizing pain.
2. Functions. The two speeds on this epilator are convenient and it's nice to have the option, but I didn't really notice too much of a difference in results. However, the various "heads" for specific purposes are amazing.
3. Results. If you move the epilator too quickly, then its easy to miss hairs. After two or three slow runs over the skin, though, it's unlikely that you'll see any leftover hairs. Make sure to epilate at different angles, because hair could face any direction!
As with all epilators I've tried so far, there still is the problem of ingrown hairs. They're mostly solved with a good scrub or peel, though. If there's ever an epilator without this problem, I'll be out to buy it. In the meantime, I'll stick to the Braun Silk-epil 7!

Huge improvement from my decade old epilator
on September 23, 2015

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm not new to epilating. I previously was using my nearly 10 year old Braun epilator that was still holding up just fine. I was curious as to how much epilators have improved since then, but couldn't really justify the price of purchasing a new one when my old one was still working. So I was super excited to receive this for free, and I have to say after using it I like it so much better and it would've been worth the investment.
My favorite feature is probably the LED light. It makes catching tiny hairs much easier. However, sometimes when I hold it I inadvertently block the light with my hand. I also love that it's cordless. I don't have to stress if it accidentally gets wet or if I get tangled up in the cord.
With my old epilator, I was only using it on my lower legs and my underarms. It was too irritating on my upper legs so I would just shave there instead. I could also only use it once or twice a week on my underarms, but no more than that because it was prone to irritation and ingrown hairs.
The new Braun Silk-epil 7 came with lots more attachments. This epilator came with an attachment specifically for underarms, and I like it a lot. I can use it for touch-ups every day or two with minimal irritations. Using the efficiency attachments on my legs makes them feel smoother, so I think it grabs more hair. I've even used it on my upper legs without any irritation. I've braved using it on my upper lips with the facial cap. It hurt a lot the first time, but there was almost no irritation afterwards. The only thing I haven't been able to brave is my bikini line. Maybe someday! I just stick to using the shaver head there. However, a word of warning, when I left the head unlocked so it could move/tilt I suffered some pretty painful razor burn. So now I stick with it in the locked position and haven't had any problems since.

Braun Silk Epil-7

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have always been a girl who does waxing to remove my hair. But waxing always does take quite some time every time I do it and getting up from my place a couple of time to warm my wax to the right temperature. Also , you have to wash after waxing for the some stickiness left behind. Not to forget the dripping of the wax container once you begin to use it. So, for me the epilator has definitely come handy as I don't have to deal with the mess, reheat etc. It removes short hair too unlike waxing. The hair is gone for a few weeks. Using the epilator on short hair is less painful than on long hair. So, keep using the epilator as you see hair to regrow and it doesn't hurt. Don't wait till you hair to grows long if you don't wan't it to hurt. So, epilator is a device with the advantages of waxing minus the disadvantages of waxing and shaving.

A good result, but prepare for pain with Braun Silk epil 7!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] (Note: I already wrote this review one time and it didn't submit, so I'll try my best to re-create that!)
I got a chance to try out the Braun Silk epil 7 a few days ago. It has a lot of cool accessories/heads/gadgets, that I haven't tried yet, but are specific for epilating your face/bikini area/etc. It is also water-proof, so that's cool.
It charged within an hour of plugging it into the wall. It has two speed settings- "gentle" and "efficient (but fast)." To be honest, when I first turned it on, I was a little scared by the noise. It sounded like it wanted to attack! But I pushed through that fear and gave it a shot anyway. I used the gentle setting.
I have tried epilators before, and I am going to be honest here - it DID hurt. So if you are afraid of pain, this may not be the best product for you. However, there are numbing creams/gels/sprays out there, and I am certainly going to buy one and see if that helps.
It hurt, but it also worked amazingly. If anyone uses tweezers to do their eyebrows - imagine that result, but across your entire leg. My leg was so smooth i couldn't stop touching it! It was incredible.
So all that to say - I absolutely do recommend this product. If you don't mind pain, this is an especially great product for you. If you don't like pain, but still want to give it a shot (because of the great results), I'd suggesting trying out a numbing cream.
(Also, epilators supposedly cause your hair to grow in slower, but I haven't had it long enough to comment on that aspect!)

Braun Silk epil 7: Works Wonders But Painful
on September 3, 2015

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So I'm no expert on epilators and it might just be my pain tolerance but I found the Silk-epil 7 to be quite painful. That combined with the buzz saw noise it creates, the gentle setting it has was less than inviting. Aside from that it has so many head attachments and other wonderful functions! The shaver head is not a gimmick, it seriously gives you a clean shave without the hassle of a razor, or the cuts. Also the little flashlight is a really nice touch. When I tried it I kept my room dimly lit and the flashlight illuminated almost my entire calf. It's also really great how it can be used when wet. Plus it doesn't take long to charge. Unfortunately I have not been using it long enough to know whether it actually makes the black hair on my brown legs grow any slower, or thinner for that matter. (I only know that in the past that hasn't been the case) Overall I would definitely recommend the Silk-epil 7 even if you have a low pain tolerance.

Braun Silk Series 7 Review
on August 16, 2015

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Thanks Braun and Bzzagent for allowing me to review this product! I couldn't wait to try out this epilator as I was in desperate need of an upgrade from my old epilator. For those who are not familiar with epilators, the Braun series 7 epilator is one of Braun's more expensive products that has added features to make sure that the device is relatively easy and painless to use. The massaging cap and built in light make it so much easier to spot tiny hairs and epilate without too much pain. This product has two speed settings and several attachment heads that can be used depending on the area that needs to be epilated. I would recommend using the lowest setting on areas like the legs or arms, where there is generally thicker hair and more hair growth. In this way, the epilator can grab the hair from the root without breakage. So far, I have only used the sensitive area cap and the razor cap. The razor is wonderful; you could just use this product for the razor attachment to be honest. I have never had a smoother shave! The sensitive area cap is not as effective at grabbing hairs compared to the regular epilator without a cap. I actually preferred not using a cap for my legs and bikini area. The charge lasts a fairly long time with this epilator. After plugging it into the outlet, it had full charge within an hour. After doing both my legs and armpits (approx. 40 minutes) , it was still working which was great! Overall, I am really impressed with this product! It is easy enough to use for beginners, but also advanced enough with multiple features that long time users can also enjoy it.
Tips and Tricks for People New to Epilating:
- Epilating for the first time will definitely be painful, but I promise the pain will lessen after a few uses! Try numbing cream or taking a painkiller 30 minutes before epilating if you have a very low pain threshold.
-Exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate! Exfoliate with a good scrub before and after epilating to prevent in grown hairs. This is so important. Unless you want to manually pluck every in grown hair out, you need to exfoliate.
-Use aloe vera gel or another type of soothing ointment after epilating. It can really calm down the redness and irritation that happens after epilation.
-Applying baby powder onto the areas that you are about to epilate can help dry up any excess water or residue that is left on the skin. It's easier for the device to grab dry hairs vs wet hairs.
-Make sure that your hair is the correct length before epilating. I think the optimal length is 2mm-5mm. When the hairs are too long, their is a lot of breakage and left over stubble, which defeats the purpose of using an epilator haha.

Excellent Results!
on September 16, 2015

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Let me start by stating two facts about myself:
1. I have very thick black hair on my legs
2. I've never been able to shave in the morning and still have silky smooth legs in the afternoon
If either of these situations describe you, this epilator is for you! I've been epilating for the last 20 years and have have an excellent track record with the quality of Braun epilators. This epilator does provide a relatively quick epilating experience with minimal pain. If you've never epilated before, don't assume this is a pain free experience, I can assure you, IT IS NOT! I was able to get a smooth epilation with even the shortest hairs. Most of the time, my hair is about 1/8" before I epilate. I did have to go over each area 3-4 times before all of the hairs were completely gone, but I've had to do that with every epilator I've ever used. Keep in mind that most epilators, including this one, don't perform well on blonde hairs. I have a few blonde hairs around my knees and I have better luck plucking those out because the epilator just can't seem to grasp them. I love the wet/dry feature of this epilator because it's really convenient to do a quick touch up in the shower if I see a few hairs that need to be removed. I typically do a full epilation every 10 -14 days (takes me about 30 minutes) with 1 to 2 quick (we're talking 2 minutes) touchups in between. If you have ever wanted to try epilating or are just looking for a new model, give this one a try! It's a keeper for me :)
