Mount Adhesive has given up

Great product but the adhesive holding the dash mount has deteriorated and the mount has dropped off the dash after a year or two.

I have the steelie ball mounted to my dash, just under my A/C vent and left of my radio. Its very convenient to slap my smartphone on my dash and go. If i need the GPS, its right there (no stupid suction cup to block my view) and can easily plug it into power or my radio. Its a super strong magnet, yet hasnt affected my phone at all. it swivels easily, so i can easily see my phone without glare. The magnet attached easily to my phone case (low profile, wont snag pockets). Will probably put another steel ball in my wife's car for when we travel. Its all very secure. Not sure how the vent mount would work, but Im VERY happy with the dash mount. I HIGHLY recommend.
Pros: Easy To Set Up, Low profile, Small, Hardly Noticeable

This is the best thing I have used and seen, in along time. It holds my iPod on my vibrating Harley with no problem.Doesn't move at all when most bolts vibrate off.. love it..

Not the most durable

This is the 2nd set I have and also have the permanent mount in my other car. They work very well just disappointed with the vent mounts. The clip holding them on broke after 6 months. I think it's a great idea but not the strongest unless this is a fluke. But hard to spend more money.

The only phone mount I want to use

I bought my first Steelie mount two years ago for my iPhone 6. A few weeks ago I bought a Steelie vent mount for my iPhone 8 Plus and it's rock solid! Love it.

I used a competitive product for a while, but after a year the suction cup mechanism broke and the mount just bounced around while I drove. I saw the Steelie system, liked the robustness of the design and bought my first one. I was immediately impressed with how well it was constructed and how simple it was to set up and use. My wife saw it and wanted one for her car. She's also very pleased with it.
Fast forward several months and my company is getting ready to do a demonstration where we were doing a live drive to show people our platform and app for effectively eliminating distracted driving. Without hesitation I bought 3 more Steelie mounts to place in the demo vehicle to hold phones so we could maximize the audience with each drive. They performed perfectly. In fact, several of the participants asked about them and indicated that they were going to get one for their car. And, one of my colleagues asked about them as well and plans to make a purchase for his and his wife's cars.

I really like this product and have showed it to friends and family. I use it a little differently, though: My iPhone 6S is so long that I use it for a better grip when typing one-handed in portrait orientation. To ease typing I attached the socket not in the center of the phone but closer to the bottom. Unfortunately, the magnet is not strong enough to keep the phone in landscape orientation without it slipping when it is mounted off-center like this, which is important for the car mount. I'll be adding a second socket to the center of the phone just for the car mount. Maybe the tablet socket/hobknob kit is stronger, but I expect it is too big for the car mount. Anyway, none of this stops me from recommending the product highly, but this feedback is useful for anyone like me who doesn't follow instructions precisely in favor of a better personal fit. Hopefully it's good feedback for the design team too.
