Fell off my vent

Bought this and two for my kids. I use in rental vehicles and clip and unclip it from the vent often. I found it worked well on horizontal vents but vertical vents it would slip and eventually fall off. As time went on it started to slip off of the horizontal vents too.
Then the end came when it no longer would grip my phone. So two stars because I really want to like it but the failures disappoint me.
My kid’s are still intact.

High quality but iphone7plus in case to heavy for it

Good quality but vent model doesn't work well with vents with vertical fins. Would work better I think on horizontal fins. My truck has vertical fins and the adapter kept working loose. Also, an iphone 7plus in a protective case is too heavy and although the steel ball didn't ever come loose, it also will not hold it in a set position.
Pros: Durable, Easy To Set Up
Cons: Unreliable, won't hold position with heavy phone

This product is a great idea I love the concept only one downside is I have a iPhone 6 Plus so it's heavier than the regular iPhone. During rides in the car it tends to vibrate and tilt down.
Pros: Magnetic allows you to stick to any metal surfac

I bought the vent mount steelie so can change it from car to car. I used it recently when 4WD in desert on steep rollercoaster, washboard road fraught with quad drivers and free range steers. My parking lot card attached in plastic pouch on dash was shaken out of its holder but not my GPS/phone holding on via steelie vent attachment. Never lost my way! Great device!

I am a photographer and travel a lot and use rental cars. That is what makes this item perfect for me. I move it from personal car to rental car as I travel. However, with all the moving from vent to vent the latch on one of them has broken after only 6 months of use. I know it's plastic but but should last longer.
Pros: 3M double sided tape to replace the magnet, Don't have to chase my phone when I make a turn, Hands free while navigating, Magnet holds phone to gas tank of the motorcycle, Phone is my GPS so it's always in sight
Cons: Mag has come off of my phone but I use it a lot, magnet kills credit card and hotel keys

Great for hands free navigation

I love this little guy -- it fits right into the vent of my Subaru Impreza [also, my boyfriend's Toyota Tundra] + allows for enough adjustment to give me access to my heat controls + radio controls. When you're mounting it in your vent try a few different angles -- the one that worked for me initially felt upside down, but ultimately had enough leverage to keep my phone straight. I paired this with the Freemount kit, so there is nothing stuck to my phone. The Freemount kits just hugs my phone into place [+ also keeps tight!]. I honestly didn't think I needed this -- until I had it. Much easier to use than balancing my phone/GPS on my knee or center consel.
Pros: Firm Placement, Versatile

I recently upgraded my phone from an Apple 6s to the 8+ and my old phone mount crumbled under the weight of the phone. The Nite Ize Steelie Dash mount solver that problem; it's so durable, strong and holds the weight of my new phone. An added bonus is the dash mount doesn't block the vent.
