Fails after 4 months.

I live in a small house and use this hot plate as an extra burner when cooking for company. The product is terrible. My 3rd burner just failed after 4 months. My 2nd burner lasted about the same. The product isn't expensive, but it's inconvenient to discover I have to pick up a new one every 4 months and the old ones just fill up the landfill. What a waste of materials. I would purchase a different product if I could find one.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

awful and dangerous

I trust black and decker. All my tools are by them and they are great but this item is dangerous. First it is light weight and has no feet on it so it slides all over the counter. Second it has a tiny burner and you must use small pans. Third the controls are on the side so you cannot see them and you have to turn it around, hold it down with one hand and twist the knob to the desired setting. I ordered it and thank goodness it shorted out after 2 weeks of use. My fear was always that when I stirred a pot the whole thing would just slide off in the floor. It was a challenge to use and I am very disappointed that B&D would produce something so dangerous. You could have at least added rubber feet to keep it somewhat stable. I bought another brand this time.

Worked great until it broke

worked fine for 6 months, then died. I've had comparable hot plates from other manufacturers that lasted way longer than this. Will not buy again.

Not worth it

I bought this not even 4 months ago. I have only used it a handful of times, maybe about 4-5 times. Last night it just stopped working while I was using it to heat up some quesadillas :( I couldn’t believe it. It says it has a 2 year warranty, so I am hoping I can get it replaced and see if the new one works better.

I bought this used it ( worked). Then realized it was uneven. I tried 3 different surfaces same results. I will be taking it back after 2 days
