I bought this same unit a couple of years ago, but then sold my house and bought a new place. The esisting refridgerator in my new home was an enormous let down- this coming from some one that doesn't care about such things. After a few short weeks I I treated myself to with a new one. It's a pleasure to habe this baby back in the fold. The pull out drawer freezer on the bottom is my favorite feature. My only dissapointment is that the fruit & vegie drawers are on the flimsy side. Over all, a very nice fridge without frivilous bells and whistles at a competitive price.
love the crisper drawers produce and meats stay fresher so much longer than my previous frig big shelves on the door allow for storage of large containers or bottles overall very happy with this appliance
Shopping for a new refrigerator, we balanced price and features. And this Amana has proved a terrific choice. It has performed very well since we bought it a few months ago. It has variable space so we can fit odd-sized containers and we appreciate the freezer-on-the-bottom feature, sparing us of having to reach down for the more frequent visits to the crispers.
I like the medium size and flexible shelving of this refrigerator. I was happy with the bottom freezer with a swinging door on my previous refrigerator, but find the slide-out door on this model less convenient. I was dismayed to discover that the refrigerator was delivered without an ice-cube tray and holder (which were standard with my previous Amana), even though they are pictured in the parts list (along with shelving etc.) that came with the refrigerator. The salesman we bought it from said the ice-cube tray is an "add on" that cannot be ordered from his appliance store. I called all over town and looked all over the web and was unable to locate the tray and holder, which apparently are supposed to attach high the back wall of the freezer unit, so when the freezer drawer slides in and out, the ice-cube tray (which may be full of unfrozen water) doesn't jiggle around. I bought a simple ice-cube tray to sit in one of the slide-out freezer baskets, but without a custom holder, there's no way to keep unfrozen water from spilling when the freezer drawer slides in and out. Very annoying.
I LOVE MY AMANA. THE BOTTOM FREEZER IS GREAT, I LIKE HOW IT LIGHTS UP WHEN YOU PULL IT OPEN. THERE IS SO MUCH ROOM TO STORE. IT HAS SO MANY GOOD POINTS. I COULD GO ON AND ON. I LOVE MY NEW AMANA.
My "refrigerator" that came with my house became a hazard after two years. It developed "mold" in the interior of the refrigerator! Immediately I did a search and found an Amana -l9 cu. ft. Bottom-Freezer Refrigerator. Bought it and am happy to report that I like the Amana Refrigerator. Have received compliments that my kitchen now looks so much better than it did with the other refrigerator.
I bought this fridge about 2 months ago because it was an attractive replacement for my old white one, and also because Amana has a good name. I liked the idea of having the freezer on the bottom so that the more frequently used food items would be conveniently located on top. I quickly experienced two problems with the door: first, it swings open very heavily, crashing onto the adjoining tile counter. I have to carefully hold the door when I open it, unlike other fridges I've owned. When I forget to do this, it opens with such force that an opened can of Coke inside knocks over and spills its contents. Also, I had a decorative ceramic plate setting in a wooden plate-holder on top of the fridge; the other day when I absent-mindedly let the door swing open, the plate was knocked to the floor, and it shattered into many pieces. The second problem I've had with the door is that sometimes - but not always - it seals shut tightly, so that to open it, I have to pull the handle really hard - or even use two hands. This happens about one-third of the times, and I can't figure out the cause. Obviously I need to get a repair person out here, but I've been busy and gone from my home in the daytime. This problem is now #1 on my list!
