How the Amana Bottom Freezer Model really works

We like our Amana bottem-freezer model very much. The only issue I have is that the freezer door is difficult to open sliding out. (I have health problems). I think an door opening like the fridge portion might be easier to work with from a walker or wheelchair...otherwise you are always in the way of the opening.

When our three undercounter appliances (2 refrigerators and one freezer) died at almost the same time, we decided to change up our kitchen and buy something that put more of our food at eye level. We bought this model in black and absolutely love it.
There's great storage space in the refrigerator and the bottom freezer is a dream. Best of all it doesn't take up as much space as some of the other models we looked at. Highly recommended.

We bought this refrig because our old Amana of 19.5 years was losing freon but still worked. This new one does not have the same quality and may not last as long. My wife does not like the drawers because they are flimsy.

My Amana refrigerator was a replacement for a broken down refrigerator that was part of my home purchase. I have a large family and the frig is huge, roomy, and usually filled to the max. The door itself holds every condiment imaginable plus juices by the gallons!!! The adjustable shelves are a delight, especially when I want to put my crock pot or giant lunchpail inside. The glass shelves allow me visibility from many angles. If it is in my frig, I can find it!! Three storage drawers help me keep my meats, veggies, and cheeses all seperate. The freezer is larger than a top freezer. The baskets always slide easily. I have the option of an ice maker, but haven't explored it due to our ice cream fetish. The exterior is easy to wipe clean, after I remove the grandkids artwork. I have never experienced an Amana product until now. I am completely content with every aspect of my refrigerator.
