I initially purchased the "commuter box" for my iPhone on a friend's recommendation. Best purchase I ever made: while on holidays in Mexico, I (accidentally) dropped my iPhone from a height of about 5 feet (1.5 meters) onto a MARBLE floor. The iPhone survived without any damage at all and continued to function perfectly. The Otter Box had a crack in the outer shell, and was kindly replaced under warranty. I'm a fan for life - theonly thing I would mention is that the screen protector does tend to crack.
Pros: Durable

I love my Otter Box iPhone 4S Commuter Case, it has saved my phone from breaking on countless occasions. The one and only complaint/suggestion I have is that the outer shell of the case has broken twice around the edges and needs to be made more durable.

I truly believe this case has saved my iphone twice from water damage and while I don't tend to abuse my phone I have dropped it a couple of times and it has suffered no after affects thanks to the protection of the Commuter Case. Where my mixed feelings come in is that I am awaiting my fourth warranty replacement due to a crack that develops at the bottom corner of the case. My current case I only received a couple of weeks ago and it is already cracked. While I find Otter Box warranty and customer service to be the best I have ever experienced, I would prefer not to have to replace it so often.
Pros: good protection
Cons: Not durable

The black plastic case cracked, just above the charging port after 3 weeks. Sent some photos via Email to otterbox and they sent me a new one. Same problem after 1 month.

A good case. But this particular case (4/4S Commuter Series Case)
has snapped and cracked very easily, when taking it off and on btwn charging. We are on our third one which have been replaced under a great warranty program. Maybe the type of material/plastic needs to be changed?

I LOVE this otterbox. I swear by it - it does exactly what it's supposed to do - keep my iphone free from breaking and scratches when dropped or subjected to other abuse. I have had some issues with the otterbox - when removing and putting it onto the phone, the plastic is prone to snapping and cracking. However, the company is really good about this and has replaced my Otterbox twice. Each time, I have noticed that the box is sturdier - they are clearly trying to improve the quality and I appreciate that.

I LOVE THE CASE, AND THE FACT THAT THE CASE IS HARD PLASTIC AND RUBBER. I ALLOWS ME TO SLIDE IT INTO MY POCKETS WITHOUT GETTING HUNG UP ON SOMETHING. HOWEVER THE HARD PLASTIC HAS BROKE/CRACKED TWICE FROM DROPS.
