Rugged protection, improved silicone inner layer

Just got a replacement Commuter case for my iPhone 4s. My first case had a defect in the silicone rubber inner layer just above the Home button–the rubber protruded up above the edge of the polycarbonate outer layer and was therefore an annoyance. The silicone rubber on the replacement is harder and less flexible, and so far it hasn't presented the same problem.
Despite the defect in the silicone rubber in my first case, the Commuter has served me well. It has protected my iPhone from several "edge" drops and has saved the iPhone from destruction when I RAN OVER IT WITH ONE OF THE TIRES ON MY CAR!
Pros: High quality, Durable, easy to keep clean, several maculine color schemes from which to chose
Cons: price for a small amount of plastic and rubber

I bought my Commuter Series Case in 2012 when my wife I got our first I Phones. We asked the clerk what was the best case and she immediately referred Otter. It had a lifetime guarantee.

This case has been dropped, stepped on, spilled on and still it soldiered on. When it finally did crack on the bottom 2 YEARS later I was crushed. I went online followed the instructions and BOOM, and email came in that I would get on in a few days.
I love this product no Otter Company compares to you guys.

My phone has been well protected by my OtterBox cases for the last year. Yes, it is difficult to take on and off, but the snug fit is what makes it so valuable. The only problem I am finding is that the case for the 4/4S breaks in the exact same spot every time. I am now on my third one, as the first two broke on the bottom right corner, near the plug in for the charger. The thin black piece of plastic that sits above the rubber stopper seems to be prone to cracks ultimately leading to a break in the case (ie. entire bottom corner falls off). Thankfully, there is a fantastic warranty program with a very efficient online process to attaining said warranty. If the warranty was not in place, then I would have to switch to a more durable case.

Cons: Not durable, short lifespan

I like my case but whenever it breaks (plastic chips or cracks usually), Otterbox sends me a new one no questions asked. The one thing I don't like about it is the plastic flap over the charging port for when i want to put it on my ihome. but i usually just cut it off. also the headphone port on the top could be wider. sometimes i have to take my case off. but you cant beat the warranty and protection!
