Very disappointing

Not at all what I expected from a new dishwasher. The utensil holder is much smaller than my last dishwasher with no slots for larger utensils such as wooden spoons. For some reason, the odor coming from the inside of the dishwasher is unreal. Each time you open the door to insert a dish you have to hold your breadth. Never had this with my old 12 year washer. In addition, there are numerous occasions where the Cascade pods do not fully dissolve so the utensils have soap scum on them. The heat from my faucet is hot enough to scold yourself so the problem isn't inadequate water temperature. Wish I never purchased it. The worst part is that my old dishwasher was still working, but I wanted to upgrade.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great machine

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I replaced my original whirlpool with this machine. We have loads for a family of nine. The only thing I've found is the rinse aid dispenser pops open other than that it's been a great machine.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Bought this 3 months ago to replace a Kitchen Aid Patrician dishwasher from 1982 (well made, looked good, cleaned well but finally non digital press button control panel gave out). Is working great. Did install myself, downloaded the owners manual as PDF for more complete information not provided with the machine (owners should do this for best operating and maintenance understanding).After experimenting with operation we determined that the recommended prepackaged liquid soap squares worked the best with the recommended rinse aid. DO NOT use powdered soap. We don't need all the cycles (overkill for us), we just use the 1 Hour wash with Heat Dry, takes about 1hr-25min, cleans well. We do basic sink pre rinse to remove most stuff because we are on a septic system.The stainless outside is easily soiled and not the easiest to keep clean (we found a product that works well) but our choice to match other appliances. Suggest to wipe off any water on inside stainless after wash since the stainless will spot at least with the county water supplied to us. Heat Dry use will aid in eliminating excess water on the inside.We find the silverware holder small and in the door attachment not convenient for us, we placed it in the right side of the bottom tray slide out tray, not a factory provided location but it does fit and works well for us.A nice streamlined styled dishwasher that cleans well.

The Whirlpool Gold dishwasher delivers some amazing features especially it's water jet spray system.. The glassware comes out spotless. We love too the fact that it is so quiet compared to my 15 year old replacement Whirlpool. Yes, by all means go for the Gold.

I purchased the machine as the other one died.And I am so glad I did! It is extremely quiet (you really have to get next to it to hear it run) and I have an open floor plan. It has the rear jets and cleans pots very well.bottom line is I would buy another one.

Is the dishwasher really running?

The dishwasher we replaced was still working, but was 11 1/2 years old. It ran very noisily and everything didn't come out clean. The new Whirlpool dishwasher runs so quietly, we end up double checking to make sure it actually had been turned on! We are very happy with our purchase.
